Objective comprehension develops critical reading and thinking skills of the learners. It mainly cultivates and nurtures the love of reading and learning of the students. The main learning outcome of reading comprehension is to gather relevant information regarding English texts. The main objective of reading comprehension is to activate and reinforce the writing, grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation skills of the students.

Comprehension

Comprehension is the ability to understand the facts and aspects regarding the facts of the learning. It is the ability to understand and interpret what the students learn through various written texts or books. Through comprehension, the students or children can make a relationship between what they read and what they know. Comprehension gives them the way to think properly about their knowledge and understanding. A positive side of comprehension is the knowledge of sufficient vocabulary and the knowledge of enough words. The readers or the students who have enough knowledge about English comprehension can differentiate between what they have learned and what they have to learn. The four basic skills are the “Listing”, “Speaking”, “Reading” and “Writing” skills. It introduces the new ideas, thoughts, and concepts of the learners and builds the prior knowledge about the texts and the topics. With the help of comprehension, students can gain and learn new ideas about the topic. The objective of the compression is to provide new ideas and concepts about real-life experiences. It also supports the learners by expanding their vocabularies and knowledge about new and difficult words. Another objective of the comprehension is to develop the grammatical knowledge of the new learners or the children. It supports the students to familiarize themselves with the difficult texts and different writing styles. The objective of the textual comprehension is to ask the students different questions related to the texts which develop their power to summarize both specific ideas and the main detailed idea of the reading passage or the text. Lastly, it can develop the writing and paraphrasing skills of different topics of the new learners.

There are four basic skills for the learning outcomes of a student. Among them, the “Reading” skill or comprehension is one of the most important skills. Reading comprehension skills can compare and contrast the most important and relevant points of a text or piece of a passage. The main aim of reading comprehension is to reinforce the grammatical structure of the learners and it can also improve their vocabulary. This comprehension helps the learners to make better readers for the future and it develops their critical thinking capabilities of them. It supports the students to read any text with enjoyment. There are 6 reading comprehension strategies, they are- “Connecting”, “Visualizing”, “Questioning”, “Inferring”, “Determining Importance in Text” and “Synthesizing”. Through the reading skill, the students can develop their basic and advanced skills regarding their level of proficiency. Thus, reading comprehension supports the students to meet the desired outcome of the learning.

There are many objectives of reading comprehension. It can excite the listening activities and on the other hand, it can amplify the vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation of the learners from the very beginning. The main objective of reading comprehension is to restructure the lexical capabilities of the children or the students. The ultimate goal of the reading is to extract the meaning of the given text. Reading comprehension strategies develop reading proficiency. When a child or a learner reads a book then, first of all, it develops their hearing capacities. The main objective of reading comprehension is that it can identify the main idea of the given text and it also can summarize or paraphrase the meaning of the written text. Rather it arouses the urge for questioning of the children about the text or the book.
