On August 15, 2018, the Odisha government announced the Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana to assist financially disadvantaged families. Under this policy, the government will provide health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per household every year.
Under this scheme, the Odisha government would provide healthcare and medical coverage to the beneficiaries. Secondary and tertiary treatment procedures will be covered by this insurance.
Over 3.5 crore people (70 lakh families) in Odisha would benefit from the Odisha Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, which will provide cashless treatment.
Under this system, all citizens who visit a state government health facility, from district to sub-centre level, will receive free healthcare regardless of their wealth, residence, or status. The women recipients would be given an additional amount of Rs 200000 as insurance

Highlights of Biju SwasthyaKalyan Yojana
The Swasthya Kalyan Yojana launched by the government of Odisha in an attempt to provide financial aid of about Rs. 5 lakh per annum to the residents of Odisha.
Objectives of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
As a result of this plan, the state’s disadvantaged inhabitants will be able to obtain free medical care. People from economically disadvantaged groups would obtain health insurance worth around Rs. 5 lakh. The fundamental purpose of implementing this initiative is to provide free health services to as many people as possible.
Benefits of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
- Families having a BKKY (Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana) Card, RSBY (RashtriyaSwasthyaBima Yojana) Card, BPL (Below Poverty Line) Card, or AAY (Antyodaya Anna Yojana) Card, as well as an annual income of Rs. 50,000 in rural areas and Rs. 60,000 in urban areas, can access cashless care at any of the 208 authorised government and private hospitals.
- In all government health institutions up to the level of the District HeadQuarters Hospital, all health services, including drugs, diagnostics, dialysis, cancer therapy, OT (Operation Theatre), ICU (Intensive Care Unit), and in-patient admission, are offered free of charge to all people.
- Under this policy, the government will provide Rs 5 lakh in annual health insurance coverage to each household.
- Under this programme, there are around 4036 packages available.
- As a result of this initiative, beneficiaries will get approximately 3.5 crores
Features of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
- All types of crucial diagnostic tests are provided free of charge to all categories of patients in all public health centres, from Sub-Centres through Medical Colleges and Hospitals.
- Insurance companies will handle the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana claim reimbursement process.
- Beyond the District Headquarters Hospital level, families with a Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, Biju Krushak Kalyan Yojana, RashtriyaSwasthyaBima Yojana, Below Poverty Line, or Antyodaya Anna Yojana Card, as well as low-income certificate holders, can obtain free treatment at all public health care facilities and 208 participating private hospitals.
Odisha Swasthya Kalyan Yojana Components
- Drop Back Assistance – As part of the public health services, pregnant moms and Sikh children will be given Rs. 500. With the help of this assistance, beneficiaries can receive hospital delivery and treatment.
- Free Health Care Services- This programme will provide free health care services to all patients, regardless of their financial situation. People would be able to receive care at all levels, from the sub-centre to the district headquarters hospital.
- Health Insurance – The government would provide Rs 5 lakh in yearly health coverage for residents of economically disadvantaged states, and Rs 7 lakh in annual healthcare benefits for female family members. Around 70 lakh financially disadvantaged families will benefit from this health insurance.

Steps to Apply for Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana 2022
Step 1- The website’s home page will appear on the screen.
Step 2- Click the Apply Online option on the homepage.
Step 3- On the screen, a new page will appear.
Step 4- Select the Application Form tab from the drop-down menu.
Step 5- You must fill in all of the requested information below.
