Every year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main for admission to technical courses at NITs, IIITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) in the country. The exam also serves as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is held for admission to the prestigious IITs. Held twice a year since 2019, JEE Main consists of 2 papers. Paper 1 is for admission into B.E and B.Tech. Programmes and Paper 2 for admission into B. Architecture and B. Planning Programmes. In 2017, JEE Main was held from 2 April to 9 April.

Ans: According to most candidates who took the paper, Mathematics was the most difficult of the three sections. The questions were said to be lengthy and application-based.

Ans: The Chemistry section in JEE Main 2017 was fairly easy to solve and included questions from a wide variety of topics such as Mole Concept, Chemical Bonding, Biomolecules, Coordination Compounds, Thermodynamics and Thermochemistry, Electrochemistry, S Block Elements, Alkyl Halide, Alcohol and Ether, and Periodic Table among others. 

Ans: No, it is not mandatory. Students may choose to write or not write both the papers.

Ans:  Paper 2A for B.Arch. consists of 3 sections: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test. Paper 2B for B.Planning also comprises Mathematics, Aptitude test, and a section on Planning-based questions. The Mathematics section in both papers 2A & 2B contains Multiple-Choice and Numerical-Value type questions.

Ans: The important units from the Chemistry section in the JEE Main 2018 paper were – Electrochemistry, Solid State, Biomolecules, Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical Bonding, p-block Elements, and Hydrocarbons. Questions from both Class 11 and 12 were asked in the paper.

 

Ans: Unlike MCQs, no options are provided for numerical value-type questions. Candidates are required to enter the correct Numerical or Decimal value as an answer.
