Physical training was widely practised by athletes of Ancient Greece for the Olympic games in 1896. After that, physical activities have been widely used for military training for armies of Kings.
Importance of PT
-
Being physically fit is also a right of an individual to live a healthy life. As we know, after the post-pandemic era of covid, daily new diseases are approaching in our life, so to survive and fight diseases we need to make our body strong. So physical exercise boosts our body’s immunity and also fights diseases.
-
There are many diseases that can affect our body, and not every individual can afford medical maintenance in private hospitals, so to avoid unnecessary diseases and medical encounters, an individual must need to be physically fit.
-
Physical training gives us a quality life and a health boost. When we get wet from sweating during exercise, impure elements get washed out of the body through sweat and our blood gets purified.
-
It also reduces many risks of diseases such as cardiovascular diseases because heart efficiency increases. The risk of high blood pressure and high Cholesterol and Triglyceride is also reduced due to fitness training.
-
Our muscles get good in shape and look attractive, which makes our personality attractive.
-
Stroke, Type 2 Diabetes, metabolism, metabolic syndrome, and colon and breast cancer risks are also reduced.
How to do PT?
-
Physical training can be done by doing exercise in the gym and at home; by doing yoga asana, aerobics, dance, Zumba classes etc
-
There are various different poses of doing physical workouts for a different part of the body. Such as for legs, one can do squats
-
For biceps, one can do push-ups, and for endurance, one can do running
-
Various exercises include running, aerobics, weight training exercises, and yoga. Rock climbing and cycling can also be performed for physical training
Side effects of physical training
-
Though there are many benefits of physical training, there are some side effects also. If we do intense workouts throughout the day without having an adequate amount of nutrition and rest, our body starts to weaken, and we feel fatigued all the time in our daily activities.
-
While performing in sports, we face lots of injuries that may result from bad to worst in many scenarios. Weight lifters may have cramps and fractures in bones while lifting heavyweights. Boxing players may have fractures on the face and bleeding nose, runners can have a hamstring injury.
-
Also, gym freaks take numerous steroids, which give quick fitness, but in future, it lowers male fertility levels and may cause sterility in males.
-
In cricket, we have seen many great players also have faced sports injuries. Sachin Tendulkar many times had a hamstring injury while playing a cover drive shot. So players are prone to sports injuries in sports to a great extent.
-
Every great sportsperson, irrespective of playing any sport, has faced at least one sports injury.
An initiative by Government for promoting physical training and Fitness
Prime Minister Mr Modi launched Fit India Movement as a Government scheme to promote sports and fitness in India on 29 August 2019. It was an Initiative to create awareness and make fitness an important part of our life.
The motto of this Movement was to make people more dedicated to their behavioural changes and make them motivated towards living a more physically activated lifestyle and a healthy life.
Fit India Mobile App was also launched under this Initiative by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. Under this Movement, local governments can encourage residents to be more physically active by establishing programs that include health education, fitness awareness, cycling march and marathons.

So motivation, encouragement and reinforcement are needed. A proper timetable and consistent discipline are required for an individual for physical training. So physical training makes us not only healthy individuals but also disciplined people.
