NTSE Full Form

The abbreviation NTSE doesn’t have many full forms. Whenever you hear NTSE, you only think about the NTSE exam. NTSE stands for National Talent Search Examination. NTSE is conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training, abbreviated as NCERT. Almost everyone is familiar with NTSE as most of us apply for this exam through school. Many schools make it compulsory for the students to appear. National Talent Search examination falls under the National Talent Search Scheme. While most of us only know about the higher secondary NTSE exam, there are graduate, postgraduate NTSE exams.

Full Form of NTSE

As discussed above, NTSE stands for National Talent search examination. It’s a highly competitive exam. It is a national level scholarship program implemented by the government of India. It is one of the most venerated exams in India. Qualifying for this exam does not only grant you a scholarship, but you also get a significant amount of respect and honour. The student who qualifies for NTSE is recognised as the nation’s talent. This exam is conducted annually. The National Talent Search exam is conducted in 2 stages. The first stage is the State level examination conducted by the states. The second Level is the national stage led by the national counseling of educational research and training.

History of National Talent Search examination

The National Talent Search Examination is conducted under the National Talent Search Scheme. It was implemented in 1963 first as the National Science Talent Search Scheme. For convenience, it was abbreviated to in NSTSS. Initially, it was only intended to find talented students only in basic science. The purpose of NSTSS was to identify students who have talent in science and provide them with financial assistance to nurture their talent. The financial aid was in the form of monthly scholarships. Only class 10 students were eligible to participate, and repeaters were not allowed. NTSS was later renamed to the National Talent Search scheme, i.e., NTSS. Another motive for these exams was to prepare students for competitive exams later in life.

Scholarships by NTSE

The students who cleared this examination are provided with scholarships throughout their studies. The total number of fellowships presently is 2000. The students who plan to get an education in the following fields receive scholarships up to the doctoral level.

The students who plan to get an education in the following fields will receive scholarships up to the second-degree Level.

Eligibility Criteria for NTSE

The National Talent Search examination has a specific criterion for applying for this examination. The requirements for higher secondary NTSE are given below.

Stage 1:

Following requirements need to be fulfilled to apply for stage 1 of NTSE higher secondary:-

The student who wants to apply should be an Indian national. Indian students who study abroad can also apply

• The candidate needs to be in the 10th class while applying

• The applicant must have cleared his ninth standard examination from a recognised board

• The candidate should have cleared his ninth standard examination with a minimum of 60% marks

• For the graduate level NTSE, the applicant should have obtained a degree from a recognised board

Stage 2:

Following requirements need to be fulfilled to apply for stage 2 of NTSE higher secondary:-

To be eligible for stage 2 of NTSE higher secondary, the candidate should have obtained 80% marks on the state board examination

• The students who have cleared stage 1 of NTSE are allowed to appear for Stage 2. That number is around 4000 per year

• When a student qualifies the stage 2 of the National Talent Search examination with minimum marks, they can obtain the scholarship

Syllabus of NTSE

The syllabus for the National Talent Search examination for higher secondary is based on the syllabus of the 9th and 10th standards. Preparation for NTSE stage 1 should be according to the state-wide curriculum. And the preparation for Stage 2 should be according to the national level curriculum.
