Ma'am I think its living 'will' and not living bill, which the centre is opposing to legalise.

yes Sanya it's will :)
. First, the Earth is not a perfect sphere—it's slightly flattened at the poles and bulges out near the equator
g is max in poles, min in equator. i think due to Coriolis force
rising of ground water is based on which phenomenon
capillary action. whenever we put a pipe(which is very thin as compared to the thickness of the earth), capillary action takes place bringing the groundwater to the surface(most of the times we need external agents such as motor or mechanical force because natural capillary action is too weak to manifest itself). :)
yes.. constant everywhere
  1. A simple machine helps a person in doing: (a) less work (b) the same amount of work with lesser force (c) the same amount of work slowly (d) the same amount of work much faster

  2. A simple machine helps a person in doing: (a) less work (b) the same amount of work with lesser force (c) the same amount of work slowly (d) the same amount of work much faster A simple machine is a mechanical device that changes the direction or * simple machine the simplest mechanisms that use mechanical * Thus, simple machine helps us in doing same amount of work with lesser * Examples of simple machines pulley, lever, wheel, screw, etc magnitude of a force advantage to multiply force. force.

  3. The tendency of a liquid drop to contract and occupy minimum area is due to: (a) surface tension (b) viscosity (c) density (d) vapour pressure

  4. The tendency of a liquid drop to contract and occupy minimum area is due to: (a) surface tension (b) viscosity (c) density (d) vapour pressure Ans (a) Liquid drop tend to contract and appear spherical when it is set free from external forces like gravity, etc. Surface tension is the property among liquids due to which they tend to occupy minimum surface area. OThat's why water droplet appears spherical because for a given volume, a sphere has minimum surface area. O Due to this property of surface tension liquid surface stretches and behaves like a stretched membrane.

  5. Which one of the following is a vector quantity? (a) Momentum (b) Pressure (c) Energy (d) Work

  6. Which one of the following is a vector quantity? (a) Momentum (b) Pressure (c) Energy (d) Work Ans (a) Scalars are quantities that have magnitude only; they are independent of direction Vectors have both magnitude and direction Momentum is the product of the mass and velocity of an object (p mv) *Momentum is a vector quantity, since it has a direction as well as a magnitude. *The rest of quantities in option pressure, work and energy have magnitude but not direction.

  7. For which one of the following is capillarity not the reason? (a) Blotting of ink (b) Rising of underground water (c) Spread a water drop on a cotton cloth (d) Rising of water from the roots of a plant to its foliage

  8. For which one of the following is capillarity not the reason? (a) Blotting of ink (b) Rising of underground water (c) Spread a water drop on a cotton cloth (d) Rising of water from the roots of a plant to its foliage Ans (b) Capillary action, or capillarity, is a phenomenon where liquid spontaneously rises in a narrow space such as a thin tube, or in porous materials such as paper or in some non-porous materials such as liquified carbon fibre. This effect can cause liquids to flow against the force of gravity or the magnetic field induction. OIn blotting of ink, spread of water drop on a cotton cloth and the rising of water from the roots of a plant to its foliage

  9. When water is heated from 09C to 10 C. Its volume: (a) increases (b) decreases (c) does not change (d) first decreases and then increases

  10. When water is heated from 0 C to 10 C. Its volume: (a) increases (b) decreases (c) does not change (d) first decreases and then increases Ans (d) Initially at start of heating from 0 C to 4 C there will be a contraction as a result of which volume decreases. On further heating beyond 4 C to 10 C the molecules gain kinetic energy and start moving more randomly. Thus, intermolecular distance increases as a result of which its volume increases

  11. With reference to Desert biome, consider the following Desert a biome with less than 25 cm) of annual rainfall along with a deficit of moisture for statements: 1. A desert is a biome with less than 40 cm of annual rainfall along with a deficit of moisture for more than 6 months in a year. 2. The temperate deserts are rainless because of effects of offshore trade winds whereas the tropical deserts are arid because of their interior location in tropical latitudes, away from rain- bearing winds. 3. The major hot deserts of the world are located on the western coasts of continents between latitudes 15 and 30 N and S more than 6 months in a year. Otropical deserts are rainless because of effects of offshore trade winds Otemperate deserts are arid ecause of their interior location in temperate latitudes, away from rain- bearing winds. The rain- bearing Trade Winds blow offshore and the Westerlies that are on-shore blow outside the desert limits. Select the correct answer using the codes given below: a)1 and 2 only b)1 and 3 only c)3 only d)1, 2 and 3 Answer: C

  12. With reference to the Continental Shelves, consider the following statements: Continental Shelf is a shallow platform of rich biodiversity due to penetration 1. The shallow water over the shelf enables sunlight to of sunlight penetrate through the water to the bottom and encourages growth of planktons. 2. Continental shelves are the rich source of fishes. 3. A large quantity of the world's petroleum and natural gas is obtained from Continental shelves. 4. Poly Metallic nodules are found on Continental shelves only. OSunlight promotes growth of planktons on which millions of surface and bottom-feeding fishes thrive. Therefore, they are the richest fishing grounds of the world like Grand Banks off Newfoundland, The North Sea etc. 090% of petroleum reserves of the world found in continental shelves For example Bombay high, Gulf of Cambay, Persian Gulf and North Sea (UK) etc. UPolymetallic Mineral nodules are found on the deep sea floor Which of the statements given above are correct? a)1 and 2 only b)1, 2 and 3 only c)1 and 3 only d)2, 3 and 4 only Answer: B
