Nucleus- The brain of a cell, bears the genetic material, nucleolus and nucleoplasm. Nuclear envelope separates the nucleoplasm from cytoplasm. Chromosomes are distinctly visible in an actively dividing cell while chromatin fibres can be observed in an interphasic nucleus. Depending on the position of centromere, the chromosomes can be viewed in different shapes in a dividing cell: -Metacentric chromosome- V shaped. -Submetacentric chromosome- L shaped. -Acrocentric chromosome- J shaped. -Telocentric chromosome- I shaped.
