Peroxisomes are small spherical organelles also denoted as microbodies. They contain oxidase that promote oxidation of lipids especially beta oxidation of fatty acids forming acetyl CoA and Hydrogen peroxide. Catalases liberate oxygen from hydrogen peroxide reducing oxidative stress.
