Mitochondria and chloroplasts have their own single circular DNA, few RNA molecules, 70s ribosomes and the components required for protein synthesis- all that is crucial for binary fission. Hence, these two double membrane bound organelles are called as self replicating organelles. They do not form a part of endomembrane system. Janus green stains mitochondria.
