The Earth: Shape and Size-Various Landforms

“Various landforms” defines the difference in the formation of land that makes the earth surface of different shapes and sizes. A landform is widely known as a trait on the surface of the earth which is a part of the terrain

There are “various landforms”on our earth which are mountains, plains, hills and plateaus. Besides these four crucial landforms, there are also other landforms which are valleys, canyons and basins. The study has described all information about the “various landforms”which are found on the earth. In the discussion part, the types of landforms in the world have been described elaborately. In this study, there is a description of how “various landforms” are created on the surface of the earth. The movement of the tectonic plate under the earth by pushing the hills as well as mountains may evoke “various landforms”.

The forms of various landforms

“Various landforms” are formed on the surface of the earth according to the following natural process. The process is

The tectonic plate to form “various landforms” push, collide and slide past each other due to the rocks which are compressed. This is considered to be the reason for the folding rocks and creates the Fold Mountains.

Various natural forces that are functioning on the earth’s surfaces can be divided into two types. The first types include those forces that are not possible to realize through the human senses. An example of the forces is the movements of the plates. Tectonic plates are moved through the long times of the year. These plates are responsible for creating the landforms like mountains and hills. The Himalayas is an example of this kind of landform.

The other forces are those that can be realized through the human senses. These are the wind pressure, the flow of the river and so on. These forces through the years make an erosion on the earth’s surfaces and create different landforms like cannons, rifts, valleys. The example, in this case, is the Grand canyon.

Types of  the landforms”

There are different “types of landforms” that are found on the surface of the earth. These landforms are

Mountains are one of the “types of landforms” which are higher than the surrounding areas. In general, the mountains evolved from the tectonic movement. The earthquake, volcanic eruption and erosion of the soil of the surrounding areas are also the reason behind the creation of the mountains. Mountains are found on the surface of the ocean and land.

Valleys are also considered as one of the types of landform. Valleys are considered to be the narrow way that lies between the hills as well as the mountains. Depending on the shape radically, valleys look like V shape. Plateaus are in general widely known as the highlands which are in general flat and are separated from the slope of the mountain. It is another “type of landform”.

Desert is also widely known as one of the “types of landform”. For the lack of sufficient rainfall, the desert is a dry piece of land without any vegetation. They are found in drought-prone areas. Dunes are in general the part of the tiny hills that appear in the desert. It is another important “type of landform”. The shape of the dune may be crescent or dome-shaped.

Island is widely well known as one of the “types of landform”.  It is considered to be a piece of land encircled by the water from all sides. It also may be the creation of the volcanic emergence or eruption. Plains are flat as well as low relief areas that are situated on the surface of the terrain. It can be the creation of soil erosion. Plains are one of the important forms of landform.

Conclusion

After the proper analysis of the above study, one can conclude that the landform is the feature on the surface of the earth. From the soil erosion and the volcanic eruption, “various landforms” can be created on the terrain of the earth. It also can be created from the movement of the tectonic plates under the earth by pushing the mountains as well as hills. There are many “types of landform” which are generally found on the surface of the earth. The diversity of the landform proves that mountains, plains, plateaus, rifts are the four crucial landforms on the surface of the earth. Besides these four major landscapes, there are some other landforms which are ocean, river, peninsula, island, valley etc.
