Eclipse is a situation that happens due to the moves of plants and as the result of this movement, another planet comes into the shadow of the planet. That is the result of the eclipses and there are mainly two types of eclipses that happen due to the shadow effect of the planets. This study is discussing the different types and effects of eclipses on the earth. There are some causes that are resulting in eclipses in the earth and this is happening in the sun and moons. This study is analysing the effects of the eclipses and their effects on the life of the earth.
Eclipses and types of Eclipses
Eclipses are denied in the language of astronomy “Complete or partial obscuring of a celestial body by another.” The eclipses occur when “three celestial objects” are aligned. Another definition of the eclipses is; “An eclipse is the result of either an occultation (completely hidden) or a transit (partially hidden)”. There are two main types of eclipse that happen on Earth. These eclipses happen when the moon comes between the sun and the Earth. Another happens when the moon is hidden by the shadow of the earth as the Earth is between the sun and the moon. There are mainly two types of Eclipses found and those are “Lunar Eclipse” and another is “Solar Eclipse”.
There are two types of the “Lunar Eclipse” and those are “Total lunar eclipse” and “Partial lunar eclipse”. On the other hand, the “Solar Eclipse” is also divided into three types, “Total solar eclipse”, “Partial solar eclipse” and “Annular solar eclipse”. Those types are briefly described now;
Lunar Eclipse: The moon moves around the Earth in an orbit and the Earth moves around the sun. Sometimes the Earth comes between the Moon and Sun and the Earth blocks the sunlight. The shadow of the Earth falls upon the moon and there is an eclipse which is known as the lunar eclipse.
- A total lunar eclipse happens when the sun and moon are placed at the exact opposite side of the Earth.
- Partial lunar eclipses occur when a small part of the moon enters the shadow of the Earth.
Solar Eclipse: During the rotation of the moon around the Earth the moon sometimes comes between the Earth and the Sun. In this time the moon blocks the sunlight and blocks them from reaching the earth and this is the result of the solar eclipse.
- The total solar eclipse is visible in a small area of the Earth and this happens when the moon covers the sunlight totally.
- A partial solar eclipse occurs when the sun, moon and the Earth are not aligned properly.
- Annular (an-yə-lər) solar eclipse occurs when the moon does not block the whole view of the Sun and thus creates a ring.
Causes of Eclipses
The main cause of the eclipses is the rotation and revolution of the earth and the spinning of the Moon in its orbit and around the Earth. There are two types of eclipses seen: “Solar” and “lunar” and those happened for the revolution of the Earth and moon.
Cause of the solar eclipses: The main cause of solar eclipses is the appearance of the moon between the sun and the earth. The sun, moon and the Earth come into a straight line and the moon appears in such a distance it seems the same size as the sun. Then the moon blocked the sunlight and this resulted in solar eclipses.
Cause of the lunar eclipses: This results when the earth is between the sun and the moon. The earth is blocking the sunlight and this does not reach the moon and so this is not visible to the earth. This is the main cause of the lunar eclipses.
Effects of Eclipses
The solar and lunar eclipses are effects on the environment and life of the earth. In the time of the total solar eclipse, there is a sudden loss of “extreme ultraviolet radiation” which comes from the sun. The solar eclipse cut the ozone level of the surface of the earth to a very minimum level. During the Eclipses the atmosphere is cooled down and there are some changes in the temperature, wind speed and humidity. The lunar eclipse also affects the atmosphere of the Earth and acts on the winds, ocean water and temperature. Some studies and research have shown that the lunar eclipses are 5 degrees lower than the temperature of the earth. The eclipse increases the gravitational force of the earth which is the tidal effects of the ocean.
Conclusion
It is concluded this study is developing an idea on the eclipses and types of eclipses. In the study, this is seen there are mainly two types of eclipse found and those are “solar” and “lunar”. This study is also developing an idea of the causes of the eclipses and how this occurs. This situation mainly happens for the ovulation of the earth and moon, when the moon or the earth comes in front of the sun this happens. Therefore it is concluded, this study is also showing the effects of the eclipses and ways of the eclipses.
