Wrong Number

The term wrong number series can be a series of numbers that doesn't obey any sequence and an odd number is present in even sequence.

Introduction:

A series can be described as an ordered sequence of various collections of alphabets, figures, words, and numbers. However, a number series can be described as a sequence of indefinite numbers that follows a similar pattern in a definite way. Regardless of the total numbers or some specific gaps between them a number series always have to follow a proper order. On the other hand, wrong number series can be described as a series of numbers in a non-sequential pattern. For example, let’s assume 1,3,5,6 out of the four numbers the wrong number is 6 because it doesn’t follow the sequence.

Arithmetic series

Arithmetic series can be described as the progression in which the progression expands with subtraction or addition of numbers. Apart from that in the case of arithmetic series the differences between the successive numbers may not be very big. Instead, the sequence can be seen as constant in the whole series, for example, let’s assume the sequence as 4, 6, 10, 14, 18……

Geometric series

Geometric series can be described as a series that may progress with the proper application of ratio and function. Eventually, the series may expand with the ratio between the successive terms might be large but it may increase in a specific sequence. For example, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64…….  In this series, it can be seen that the series is getting multiplied by 2 and hence the series is expanding and getting doubled throughout.

Tricks to find the wrong number in the series/ missing number

  • Trick 1: Spotting odd numbers from the sequence

To apply this trick primarily the number that does not follow the sequence needs to be identified accordingly the sequence can be solved. For example, 2, 5, 9, 14, 20, 27, 34

Therefore it can be seen that the series follows the +3, +4, +5, +6, +7 sequences but the last number 34 does not follow the proper sequence, and hence it can be very easy to find the wrong number in the series and the wrong number series is 34

  • Trick 2: Find the correct number in place of the wrong term

In this trick initially, the wrong number in the series needs to be identified and simultaneously the wrong number needs to be replaced by the correct number. For example, let’s assume the series as 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 242 simultaneously, it can be seen that the series is getting multiplied by 2. However, 242 does not follow the proper sequence thus 242 needs to be replaced by 256 which can be the correct number.

Difference between number series and wrong number series

Number series can be defined as a list of ordered numbers that may follow a proper sequential order. However, it can be considered as cumulative addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of various sequences of numbers. Apart from that, the sequence can be definite or indefinite depending on the terms and numbers. Hence, the arithmetic series can be calculated using (n/2)⋅(a₁+an) depending on the value of the total variables the sequence can be definite or indefinite, Moreover, from the above formula “n” denotes the total numbers in the series, “a₁” represents the initial number and “an” represents the last number from the sequence.

On the other hand, wrong number series can be described as a list of unordered numbers that do not follow a proper order. However, it can be said that a wrong number series is a series where there is one odd number that dismantles the whole sequential order. Therefore in order to elaborate wrong number series in a broad aspect let’s assume a sequence of numbers. For example, the first number is the square of 2, the second number is the square of 3, the third number is the square of 4, and so on. On the other hand, let’s assume the nth number as the squares of 10 but (n-2) number as 68 therefore the wring number in the series will be 68 and the correct answer will be 64.

Conclusion

To conclude this discussion wrong number series is used to illustrate the application of various aspects. Apart from that, a wrong number series can be described as a list of unordered numbers that do not follow a proper order. However, it can be said that a wrong number series is a series where there is one odd number that dismantles the whole sequential order. Apart from that various tricks as well as arithmetic progression is also elaborated.
