Tier I
The first entry-level exam for SSC CHSL is a tier I. In level I, the online exam is conducted with objective questions. Four subjects- G.I(General intelligence), Language paper(English), Q.A(Quantitative aptitude maths), and G.A(General awareness or knowledge) are included in tier I.
Negative marking of ½. In simple words, for one incorrect answer, half marks will get deducted.

Tier II
It is a Descriptive type test. Applicants need to write an essay and a letter for this stage. The length of the article (200-250) words, and a letter(150-200) words. Candidates can qualify with 33% Aggregate marks on both paper and letter. Different from tier I, as no online exam.
Tier III
The candidates who got selected must either pass the typing test or the test for data entry operators. The purpose of the Tier 3 exam is to gauge candidates’ functional departments. The third SSC CHSL Tier is a qualifying one. Students seeking SA/PA and JSA/LDC positions must take the Tier 3 exam.
