SSC CAPF Syllabus

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is responsible for recruitment to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).  Given below is the complete and detailed syllabus for the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPF Examination 2020. Candidates may note that questions in both the stages of the paper will include topics from the specified syllabus only.

  • General Knowledge and General Awareness:
    1. This section will contain questions that assess the general awareness of the candidate with regard to the environment, its surroundings and its application to society.  The questions will be designed to test the candidate’s knowledge of current events and matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect. It will also include questions from History, Geography, Culture, General Polity,  Economic Scene, Scientific Research, Indian Constitution, etc.
    2. Quantitative Aptitude: The section will include questions that will assess the ability of candidates to use numbers appropriately. It will include:

  1. English Comprehension:  This section will evaluate the candidate’s understanding of correct English, writing ability, and basic comprehension skills.

Paper II:

  • English Language and Comprehension: Questions in this section will focus on the candidate’s understanding of the English language. It will be based on error recognition, Spellings, fill in the blanks (using verbs, prepositions, articles, etc. ), Vocabulary, Sentence Structure,  Grammar, Synonyms, Sentence Completion, Antonyms, comprehension, Phrases and Idiomatic use of words, among others.

  • Weight: In proportion with height (for all posts)
  • Physical Endurance Test (PET) (for all posts)
    1. For male candidates:
      1. 100 metre race in 16 seconds
      2. 1.6 Km-race in 6.5 minutes
      3. Long jump: 3.65 metre in 3 chances
      4. Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metre in 3 chances
      5. High Jump : 1.2 metre in 3 chances
  • For female candidates:
    1. 100 metre race in 18 seconds
    2. 800 metre race in 4 minutes
    3. Long jump: 2.7 metres in 3 chances
    4. High jump: 0.9 m in 3 chances
  1. No minimum requirements for chest measurements for female candidates.
  2. Height and chest relaxation will be permissible only as per the specified guidelines, provided the candidate submits the required certificate issued by the competent authorities of the district wherever he/she resides.
  3. The physical criteria (height/chest) relaxation provided at the time of initial appointment in Delhi Police would stay in effect until the individual involved leaves the force.
  4. Candidates who are disqualified in physical standards, such as height and chest, may appeal to the appellate authority on the PET/ PST ground if they so wish. The appellate authority’s decision will be final, and no further entreaty in this regard will be considered.
  5. PST/ PET will not carry marks but will serve as a qualifying/elimination tool.
  6. PET is not required for ex-servicemen applying for these positions. However, all Ex-Servicemen must clear the written tests and meet the prescribed physical requirements. They must also meet the requisite medical requirements for direct recruits.
