Recently, the Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), announced the soft launch of the Centre’s DigiYatra initiative.

About DigiYatra 

• • DigiYatra envisages that travellers pass through various checkpoints at the airport through paperless and contactless processing.
  • It uses facial technology to establish their identity, which would be linked to the boarding pass.
  • Implementation Agency:

• DigiYatra Foundation

• • • • The DigiYatra Foundation will be the custodian of the passenger ID validation process. 
      • It will also define the criteria for compliance and guidelines for the local airport systems.
  • The Airport Authority of India (AAI) will identify the airports where DigiYatra will be implemented in a phased manner.

• Benefit:

• • Air travellers who choose to use the service won’t have to show their tickets, boarding passes at several points at the airport.
  • This in turn, would reduce queue waiting time and accelerate processing time.
