How to Study Physical Chemistry for NEET 2024

Physical Chemistry is a crucial part of the Chemistry syllabus for the NEET 2024 Exam. Find out tips to study important topics from Physical chemistry to score good marks in NEET 2024.

The NEET 2024 examination has been scheduled for May 5, 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially revealed this examination date on September 19, along with the announcement of dates for other prominent entrance exams like JEE Main, CUET, and more.

The majority of NEET applicants misjudge the problems faced in the Chemistry portion of the exam. It could result from putting the Biology portion first or spending more time on Physics numerical. Chemistry is taken for granted, which shows up during tests, causing unneeded anxiety and, as a result, low grades in the subject. The chemistry section consists of 25% of the total questions in the NEET exam. There are around 45 questions out of 180 questions asked in chemistry. In this section, 15 questions out of 45 questions are directly asked about physical chemistry.

Compared to Physics and Biology, the pattern of questions coming in the Chemistry part is difficult to predict because it is always changing. Physical chemistry demands extra attention because it has the most variances compared to the other parts. Furthermore, it has been concluded that theory-based numerical questions about chemistry have been noticed in the questions paper. Such questions are simple to answer for individuals who have studied NCERT completely.

Tips to study Physical Chemistry for NEET UG

Physical chemistry is one of the major aspects of the examination. As discussed above, around 45 questions have been asked from the chemistry subject, out of which 15-16 questions belong to physical chemistry, which consists of 60 marks. So, discuss some important factors you need to consider before starting your preparation.

#Tip 1 Decode the syllabus.

So, the most important chapters of the physical chemistry of class XI are the mole concept, Gaseous State, Equilibrium, Thermodynamics and redox. Similarly, the branches of physical chemistry are solutions, solid states, electrochemistry, chemical kinetics and surface chemistry.

#Tip 2 Overcome the Math Fear

Most of the aspirants face the challenge while solving the problem related to log and antilog concepts, trigonometric functions and units conversion. So, it is advised to visit the official advice channel where the complete video on this concept is available.

#Tip 3 Mind Maps and Formula Sheets

The mindmap is how to make various subheadings of the provided chapter for easy understanding. In this method, we interlink different concepts through pointers. This method is important to avoid lengthy notes and an easy last-minute revision.

#Tip 4 Practice

Most of the students follow the wrong practice approach while preparing for the NEET UG examination. They solve repeated topics from various sources such as DPP, PYP, NCERT and NEET Exampler. So, it is advised to practice level 1 questions of the book and not solve multiple questions on the same topic.

#Tip 5 Simplify the calculation

Use approximate calculations to avoid complicated calculations. For example, instead of using 9.8, you can use approximate value, i.e. 10.

#Tip 6 Check your strike rate.

The strike rate refers to evaluating the questions you have done in a specific time frame.

Strike rate = No. of questions (correctly)/time taken (in minutes)

Tip 7 Don’t waste too much time on the same types of questions

Do not get stuck on the same question and try to solve different questions.
