About Zero FIR:
- It is an FIR that can be registered by any police station, irrespective of jurisdiction, when it receives a complaint regarding a cognisable offence.
- Objective:
- To make it easier and faster for victims to file a complaint online.
- To prevent witnesses and evidence from being misplaced or altered.
- 2012: It was introduced on the recommendation of Justice Verma’s committee.
