Recently, COP 26 President and NITI Aayog unveiled two initiatives to boost electric mobility and promote battery reuse and recycling market in India.
Key Points:
The two initiatives are:
- E-AMRIT (Accelerated e-Mobility Revolution for India’s Transportation) mobile application to increase public awareness of electric transportation.
- Report on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Reuse supported by UK’s Green Growth Fund Technical Cooperation Facility.
- It aims to promote battery recycling of current and evolving battery technologies, and battery supply chain as uptake of electric vehicles increase in India.
About the Glasgow Breakthrough on Road Transport:
- It was launched at the COP26 climate summit.
- India is one of 42 leaders that have backed and signed up for the UK’s Glasgow Breakthroughs initiative.
- India is also a co-convener of the Glasgow Breakthrough on Road Transport, together with the UK and the US.
- Aims: To make Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) by making them affordable, accessible and sustainable in all regions by 2030.
