• In 2023, India produced 113 billion units (BU) of solar power.
• As of May 2024, solar power accounted for 18% of India’s total installed electricity (442 GW).
• Solar power made up only 6.66% of the power actually produced.

Installed Power Capacity

• India ranks fifth globally in terms of installed power capacity, with 73 gigawatts (GW).

Global Solar Power Production

• Renewable sources of energy accounted for 30% of global electricity production.
• China is the leading producer of solar power in the world.
• In 2024, China generated 584 BU of solar power, which is more than the combined production of the United States, Japan, Germany, and India.
• China accounted for 51% of the additional global solar generation and 60% of new global wind generation.
