India’s Critical Minerals

The Ministry of Mines released the first-ever report on "Critical Minerals for India".

Critical Minerals for India:

  • A list of 30 important minerals for India has been determined by an expert committee under the Ministry of Mines.
  • These include Antimony, Beryllium, Bismuth, Cobalt, Copper, Gallium, Germanium, Graphite, Hafnium, Indium, Lithium, Molybdenum, Niobium, Nickel, PGE, Phosphorous, Potash, REE (Rare Earth Elements), Rhenium, Silicon, Strontium, Tantalum, Tellurium, Tin, Titanium, Tungsten, Vanadium, Zirconium, Selenium and Cadmium.

Critical Minerals of other countries: 

USA: 50 minerals have been deemed essential by the US due to their significance for either economic growth or national security.

The European Union has designated 34 minerals as critical, while the UK listed 18 critical minerals to be critical.

Canada and Japan have listed 31 critical minerals, respectively.
