About Laver Cup 2022
The Laver Cup is an intercontinental indoor hard court competition between Team World & Team Europe. Other than Europe, Team World comprises athletes from every continent. Based on their ATP Rankings, players receive participating fees. Prize money for the winning team is $250,000 in total. The Laver Cup had been given official ATP Tour status in 2019. The men’s tennis competition among teams representing Europe as well as the remaining portion of the planet, the Laver Cup, held its fifth iteration in 2022. London’s O2 Arena in England has an indoor hard court where the event was placed. Roger Federer, the former No. 1 singles player and a significant singles champ for 20-time, announced his retirement during this competition. The former world champion and longtime opponent Rafael Nadal came up just short of Frances Tiafoe & Jack Sock tiebreak in the third-set super.
How is the Laver Cup organised?
Over the course of three days, five seminars make up the centrepiece event (Friday – Sunday). Every day has both doubles & singles bouts. The games played on the first day would be worth one point each. The matches that will take place the following day will count for two points, whereas the matches on the last day will be worth three points. The tournament’s first two days require every player to play at least one singles match.
