To a notification from the Home Ministry, “The President is delighted to designate Shri Ghulam Ali to the Council of State to fill the position caused by the superannuation of one of the permitted in the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause (a) of clause (1) of article 80 of the Constitution of India, read with clause (3) of that article.”
According to Article 80 (1) (a) of the Constitution, the President may propose 12 members of the Rajya Sabha. They have specialised expertise or real-life experience in literature, science, art, or social work. Ilaiyaraaja, Ranjan Gogoi, Mahesh Jethmalani, Sonal Mansingh, Ram Shakal, Vijayendra Prasad, Dharmasthala Veerendra Heggade, Rakesh Sinha, and PT Usha are the nine nominees currently serving in the Upper House of the Parliament.
Elective members from States and Union Territories fill the remaining House of Representatives seats. The total membership is 237, and the maximum strength is 250. Jagdeep Dhankhar, the vice president, assumes the role of official chairman.
President Murmu appoints Gulam Ali of J&K to the Rajya Sabha
On Saturday, Gulam Ali was elected to the Rajya Sabha by President Draupadi Murmu. Ali is a native of Kashmir and Jammu.
The President is delighted to designate Shri Gulam Ali to the Committee of the State to fill the position induced by the superannuation of one of the permitted, as per the authority granted by Sub-Clause (a), of Clause (1) of Article 80 of the Constitution of India, read with Clause (3) of that essay, according to a notification released by the Union Ministry Of home affairs on Saturday.
