A process of arranging a group of people to sit together in a known arrangement is called a seating arrangement.
There are several types of seating arrangements present from which we are going to look into some.
Linear seating arrangement:-
Circular seating or Placing arrangement:
Circular unidirectional:
A. Circular bidirectional:
B. Polygonal arrangement
In Polygonal arrangement, people are arranged by the candidates on three or more three sides such as Triangular, square, rectangle, Pentagonal etc.
Square arrangement
Triangular arrangement
Concentric arrangement
Arrange people in such a way that one the arrangement will be circular and a polygonal should be present. One inside another.
When you are going to solve placing arrangement questions, you will see a set of questions are been asked in that problem and some pieces of information are given to solve the problem. The information can be divided into 2 types.
The information is given directly. You don’t have to connect the link to find out direct information. You can see this in the questions.
This information is not given indirect manner. You have to connect the links to find out information which will be known as indirect information.
No.1: In a triangular arrangement as it has three corners so only 3 persons can sit in three corners and they will face in the inward or outward direction.
No.2: To know how many people sit in between minus it from 1. Like if X is 3 people away from Y is given then in between them 3-1= 2 people are sitting.
No.3: Candidates should have in mind the following placing arrangements questions basics;
Q1) Study the question and solve these questions.
Subhajit, Shreya, Partha, Shatabhisa, Rachel, Monica, Ross and Somu are sitting facing north. Somu sits third to the left of Shatabhisa. Somu relaxes or sits at the end of that row arrangement. One person sits between Shatabhisa and Shreya. Only two people sit between Shreya and Ross. Ross is a neighbor of Subhajit. Monica sits third to the left of Partha. Who is their immediate neighbor of Rachel?
Answer:
People: Subhajit, Shreya, Partha, Shatabhisa, Rachel, Monica, Ross and Somu.
Hence Shreya and Partha are immediate neighbours of Rachel.
Hence the seating arrangement is;
Somu – Subhajit – Ross – Shatabhisa – Monica – Shreya – Rachel – Partha
Q2) Eight people named Ranu, Kanhu, Sanu, Jinu, Sinu, Chinu, Dablu and Silu are sitting in a line with 4 people facing north and 4 people facing south. Only two continuous persons can be able to face the same direction. Persons at the right end and at the left end will face in the same direction.
Ranu sits 3rd to the right of Jinu, who sits immediately to the right of Silu. Silu faces the north direction. 2 people sit between Ranu and sinu. Jinu doesn’t sit at the end. Kanhu sits right of Sanu and both face south. Kanhu and ranu are not near each other. Dablu doesn’t face south.
Create the row arrangement?
Answer:
People: Ranu, Kanhu, Sanu, Jinu, Sinu, Chinu, Dablu and Silu
Hence if we use these statements and will solve the problem then we will get the arrangement like this:
Silu(N) – Jinu(S) – Chinu(S) – Dablu(N) – Ranu(N) – Sanu (S) – Kanhu(S) – Sinu(N)
Seating arrangement questions come in various government exams and we can easily score these types of problems answers by learning some steps about it. And today we solved some problems above by placing arrangement questions.
