Easy Tricks For Word Classification

Are you willing to learn about what are the tricks you can use for word classification reasoning and what is word classification and how to solve their questions? Then this guide will help you to learn all about it.

What is word classification?

Classification means sorting items in a particular group based on their particular common quality and then recognizing what is strange or unusual. The phenomenon of different grouping of objects based on common properties is called classification. This classification allows you to transform heterogeneous groups into systematic and homogeneous groups. The classification question usually allows the examiner to assess a candidate’s ability to classify a particular item. There are usually three types of classification questions:

  • Semantic classification

  • Symbolic or number classification

  • Figural classification

Types of classification

  • Semantic classification: Such a question gives a group of four words. Three of them have a common relationship, but one of them does not have the same properties, so they form a new group. Candidates should select the word as an option that does not belong to a common group.

For example, a. tetanus b. cholera c. typhoid d. smallpox

The answer will be d. smallpox because tetanus, cholera and typhoid three are caused by bacteria, whereas smallpox is caused by a virus.

A logical approach is that it distinguishes properties by function and quantity. Relationships of quality, interrelationships, means, media or activities.

  • Symbolic or number classification: This type of question provides a group of letters and numbers. Instead of alphabetic values and their positions, letters from groups, just as numbers follow mathematical operations/rules, so they form groups. Candidates must select options that do not belong to the same group.

Basic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Family of numbers, i. H. Even numbers, odd numbers, prime numbers, rational numbers, etc. Pattern and divisible test. Numbers squared and cubed. Square root and cube root of numbers. Alphabet/character position or order. Places alphabetic values. Metaphorical form of letters. Vowels – Alphabet consonant relationships. Repeat and skip characters. Identify the operations occupied by letters and symbols. Provides a unique identifier for the result.

  • Figural classification: Questions like this are given four groups of figures, three of which belong to a common group with properties and one to another. Candidates must select a character that does not belong to a common group. This kind of approach to finding strange numbers is known as graphic classification.

Need to remember: Figure and Element Structure. Element Rotation. Distribution of elements. Item position and placement. Increases or decreases the item level.

Let’s do some questions and find their answers.

Directions: Five words are given in each of the following questions. Four of them are, in a sense, the same, but the fifth is different. Choose a word that is different from the others.

  1. Chicken

  3. Swan

  4. Crocodile

  5. Frog

Answer: Snakes, swans, crocodiles and frogs are the ones that can live on land as well as in water, but chickens can live only on land, so the answer will be a) chicken.

  1. Cap

  2. Turban

  3. Veil

  4. Hat

  5. Helmet

Answer: Cap, turban, hat and helmet, these all are used to cover the head, whereas a veil is used to cover the face, so the answer will be c) veil.

  1. Eagle

  2. Emu

  3. Kiwi

  4. Ostrich

  1. Curd

  2. Butter

  3. Oil

  4. Cheese

  5. Cream

Answer: Curd, butter, cheese and cream are all dairy products that are formed using milk, whereas oil is not a dairy product, so the answer will be c) oil.

Conclusion

Classification is an act or process and is a systematic arrangement of groups or categories according to established criteria, specifically classification. Class, category. The phenomenon of different grouping of objects based on common properties is called classification. This classification allows you to transform heterogeneous groups into systematic and homogeneous groups.
