Chart, Bar, Graphs

This article deals with the charts, their definition, types, and purposes according to the variation in the display of the dataset and variables.

Table of Content
  •
Charts are part of infographics or diagrams. They represent the data graphically and pictorially and they serve a similar purpose to illustration. They are a significant addition to textual information and are much easier to understand than the mere description of the database. Their use can provide clarity and precision in a presentation and can make data more attractive and understandable. There are different types of charts and each has their purpose

Types of Charts

Pie Chart

This type of chart is important when a single variable is taken and the components of a database are analyzed into small segments. The chart is in the shape of a pie and the pieces of the pie show the differences in the components. They can have two dimensions or three dimensions according to the type of data they are representing. However, they look visually attractive.

Bar Graph

This type of chart is used for comparing vast data and especially statistical values. They are the shape of horizontal bars and their length shows the comparison through vertical data points. They are also known as bar charts. They can be divided into groups, stacks, or segments. The first one is used when different subsets of the same data are compared and contrasted to each other by using color variations. The second one is needed when different subsets have to be shown by stacking them together. The third one is used when the subgroups have to be compared to the total valuation.

Area Chart

This type of chart can be used as a further development of line charts, but they come with the fill of the area between the two axes with color to show differences in the trends, patterns, and so on. They have different patterns and they can come in two dimensions or three dimensions. They can also be used as single, compound, stacked versions.

Doughnut Chart

This type of chart has some similarities with the pie chart as it shows the relationship between the segments of a dataset. However, they are more detailed and they show interrelationship, comparison, and contrast between the individual segments. They also have more blank space than the pie chart.

Bubble Chart

This type of chart uses bubbles for showing different data points. The size, shape, and location of the bubbles play important roles in making the data clear and comparing them. This chart can have either two dimensions or three dimensions and they can come in a cluster, stack, map, multiple variations, etc.

Line Chart

This type of chart is created with the use of lines for comparing data. They are simple, but they show continuous trends in data sets. They are also known as line graphs. They can be simple, multiple, or compound. While the first one has a single line, the next one uses more than one line to compare different trends and patterns. The third one is They are important for making visible different trends, practices, and the situation of an event or an organization.

Scatter Chart

This type of chart is displayed with random points on the area under the display, where the points show the results of some events or some outcomes. They can show either a positive correlation or a negative correlation between the components.

Comparison Chart

This type of chart is used for comparing different data trends and points. They compare with the help of the bar, pie, column shapes and thus can be any form of the chart where comparison is shown between separate databases.

Histogram Charts

They are used for showing frequency and interval. They use rectangle shapes and come in different shapes like a bell shape, asymmetric graphical shape, comb shape, or irregular shape. They can be single modal, bimodal or multimodal. Their datasets can vary according to the frequency of some events or the use of multiple databases.

Column Chart

This type of chart can depict a single set of data or multiple sets of data. They have two axis lines, X and Y. The first one is used for time and it has a horizontal shape. The second one, vertical in formation, is used for showing statistical values. When multiple datasets are involved, this chart is used in the clustered version, where several data sets are compared and analyzed. Apart from that, they have different variations, flowers, shrubs, plants, and so on.

Conclusion

Thus, here we have discussed various charts, bars, graphs, and their functions. To understand more about their characteristics, it is necessary to understand how they can be used in a similar context and how they can be used to give new perspectives in similar databases. The charts and bar can be helpful even in the absence of textual data. But it is important to know how to read and understand them without the help of textual data and descriptions.
