State Election Commissioner (Government of India) Sanjay Singh was recently in the news as it related to his pay rise from Rs 20,000 per month (Rs 2.4 lakh for a full year) to Rs 1 crore per month (Rs 12 lakh for a full year). The President gets a monthly salary of ₹500,000. Vice presidents have a ₹400,000 monthly salary, and the Prime minister gets a monthly salary of ₹200,000 per month.
Secretaries to the union government are paid Rs. 39,300 per month while Chief Ministers of different states are paid Rs. 2 lakhs per month compared to other Chief Ministers in the country who are on average paid at least Rs. 12 lakhs a month.
