International organisations are the organisations that provide peace and harmony among their member countries. There are 2 types of international organisations which are:
- International intergovernmental Organisation: They are termed as IGO and they clarify by the name as they refer to the organisation which has the involvement of the government or is owned by the government. 4 examples of this international organisation are the United Nations, Organisation of American States, World Health Organisation, and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
- International non-governmental Organisations: They are termed NGOs and they are clear that they do not involve any involvement with the government. They work internationally. They are nonprofitable organisations as they do not focus on making a profit. 4 examples of these international organisations are Amnesty International, Oxfam International, CARE, and World Wildlife Fund.
Difference between IGO and NGO
Differences between the 2 types of International Organisations are:
- IGOs are formed by a meeting of states. The Meeting of states leads to the formation of an association and they build an organisation that stays because of understanding among the member states. NGOs are not formed up by the states, they are formed up by persons, artificial people. There is no importance of states in NGOs.
- IGOs are legal as they involve states as their members which indirectly makes them legal or official but NGOs are termed as not legal until they are registered, as they do not have the states as their members so when the NGOs are registered, they become legal or official.
- Main aims of IGOs are to solve the issues between countries or the members of it. The main aims of NGOs are to provide help, to show how to fight for their rights, and they also give protection to the people.
- IGOs are directly ruled by the government and the government exercises its power over them. NGOs do not have any involvement from the government, they do take funds from the government as they are doing social causes but they do not have any interference from the government in their work. This is the main difference between the 2 types of International Organisation.
- IGOs are not limited to any state or any territory; they expand their region from time to time as they lead to the addition of new member states. NGOs do not expand their region, they work in the same territory that they are given to work in.
Nature of International Organizations:
The nature of the International Organisation is very clear as they provide help and serve as a catalyst between countries that are having conflicts. The international organisation is that area or platform in which all the member states can come together and cooperate which in turn leads to healthy relations among the members. The 2 types of international organisations tell us that there should be an organisation that should provide peace and harmony among the member states and another organisation that should be ready to help and fight for someone’s rights whenever needed.
Conclusion:
There was a question on the nature of the International Organisationsand it was answered by classifying the International Organisation into 2 types: International Intergovernmental Organisation and International Nongovernmental Organisation. International Organisationsplay an important role or hold an important position in affairs that happen between countries. They do not always have a positive impact on the world, they have a negative impact too but we can say that without them, our lives would have been completely different.
