Himachal Pradesh, also known as the “Province of the Snow-Covered Mountains,” is a state in northern India. This figure was 0.59 per cent in 2001.
Only about 10% of the total population lives in cities, with the remainder living in villages. Shimla, Himachal Pradesh’s capital, is one of the state’s major cities, along with Manali, Kullu, Dharamshala, and Kangra. Population Density
The population density is a little over 120 people per square kilometre in over 50000 square kilometres. The Koli caste forms 30 per cent of the total population of Himachal. The other important communities residing in the state are the Brahmins, Rathis, Rajputs, and Kannets. Scheduled castes make up 25.19 per cent of the population, while scheduled tribes make up 5.71 per cent.
Sex Ratio
The sex ratio measures the number of females per 1000 males in a population. Himachal Pradesh’s sex ratio, according to the state census of 2011, is 974 per 1000 men. Child Sex Ratio in 2011
The overall number of people residing in the urban areas is 688,552, with 371,528 men and 317,024 females. In Himachal Pradesh’s urban areas, there were 853 females for every 1000 males. The sex ratio for children aged 0 to 6 was 881 girls for 1000 boys in the urban area. There were 65,076 children aged 0 to 6 living in Himachal Pradesh’s urban regions. Children (0-6 years) made up 9.45 per cent of the overall population in urban areas.
In Himachal Pradesh’s rural areas, the sex ratio for 1000 men was 986. The child sex ratio for children aged between 0 to 6 years was 912 er 1000 boys. 712,822 children (0-6 years) reside in rural areas in Himachal Pradesh. Children make up 11.54 per cent of the entire rural population.
Literacy Rate
The literacy rate of Himachal Pradesh per the state census 2011 is 83.78%. The total number of literates was 51,04,506, of which males were 27,91,542, and females were 23,92,564.
