Rural Population as per Census 2011 of Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh is an Indian state located at the centre of the country. Bhopal is the capital of the state, and Indore is its largest city. Madhya Pradesh stands second in the country in terms of area. It stands fifth in the country in terms of population. The state mainly depends on agriculture for its economy. 

It should be noted that the per-capita income in the year 2013-2014 was US $ 871.45, the sixth-lowest in India. The total population living in rural areas is also very high. The analysis of total rural population and statistics related to it according to the census 2011 is worth doing. 

The Economy of Madhya Pradesh

The gross state domestic product of Madhya Pradesh grew 12% in the year 2011-12. The state is now making rapid growth in the service and industrial sectors. It also received an award from the president for improving the tourism sector, medical sector, and growth in other services. It ranks 10th in India in terms of GDP. Wheat, gram, rice, soybean, sugarcane, maise, arhar, rapeseed, mustard, and cotton are the major crops here. The products that contribute to the state’s rural economy are minor forest products like tendu leaves, lak, teak seed, and sal seed. The state also won the 10th National Award for its exceptional work in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005. 

The Total Population in the Rural Areas of Madhya Pradesh

The total population of Madhya Pradesh is 7.27 crores. Out of that, 52,557,404 people reside in the rural areas as per Census 2011. The number of rural females is 25,408,016 and that of rural males is 27,149,388. The sex ratio in rural population is 936. The literacy rate among the rural population is 63.94 %. The literacy rate in rural males is 74.74 % and that of rural females is 52.43 %. The total literacy rate of the entire population of Madhya Pradesh state is 69.32 as per the Census 2011. The total area of the state is 3,08,252 km2. It includes 3,00,505.59 km2 the rural areas and an urban area of 7,746.41 km2. It has 54,903 villages. The government is making big strategies to do rural development for the people as a very high number of people reside in the rural areas as per Census 2011. Several steps are implemented that ensure quality development in the required region. 

Key Strategies for Rural Development in Madhya Pradesh

The state government initiates many projects with a vision of welfare for the rural population. One of the main causes is the lack of quality education and required information to lift themselves. For better development of rural areas, interdepartmental coordination is necessary to implement any programs or activities successfully. Training camps are organised for unemployed youths of rural areas for employment. Out of the total population living in rural areas, very few are aware of technologies that are needed daily. In the rural areas, electricity expenditure is done under the electrification scheme for the offices of the department of rural developments. 

Conclusion

The entire population of the Madhya Pradesh state and the whole of India is witnessing tremendous growth and development in the rural areas. The literacy rate of people from rural areas is increasing. The infrastructure is continuously improving. Approximately three-fourths of the entire population of the Madhya Pradesh state is rural. The distribution is uneven, though.
