Population of State and Union Territory as per Census 2011

India is quite famous for its varied landscapes, diversified culture, as well as for its ancient history. In 1873, the very vital census was conducted in British India. But after the independence in 1947, the census was carried out for a regular interval period of 10 years. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner conducted the census every 10 years in India. 2.4 percent of the world’s land surface is occupied by India and about 17.5 percent of the world’s population resides in it. According to the census, the most populous state of India is Uttar Pradesh.

Census 2011

The 2011 Census of India or the 15th Indian Census is made up of two categories, house listing, and census. The listing of the House began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all the properties. Information on the National Population Register (NPR) is also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-character ID number to all Indian residents registered with the Unique Identification Authority of India. The second phase of the census was conducted between 9 and 28 February 2011. The census conducted in India between 1872 and 2011 notes that the first biometric data was collected. 

Union Territory

Union territories are state territories controlled by, in part or entirely, by the Union Government of India and in the Republic of India, it is a kind of administrative division. There are 7 union territories. The list of the Union Territories of India is given below.

An Administrator appointed by the President can be administered the functioning of Union Territories. From the largest to the smallest, each UT in India has a history of people, history and culture, costumes, festivals, language, etc. The Constitution of India extends the administrative and legislative power that may be exercised concerning the territory of any State between the Union and that country.  

States of India

India, a union of provinces, is a ruling, national, democratic republic with a parliamentary system of government. The constitutional head is the President of the Executive of the Union. In the provinces, the Governor, as the President’s representative, represents the head of the Executive Council.

Largest State: Rajasthan represents the most massive state in India. Rajasthan is a northern district of India. It covers 342,239 square kilometers or 10.4 percent of the entire Indian subcontinent. It is the broadest Indian region by area and the seventh-largest in terms of population.

Goa is the smallest state in India.

Total Population of India in accordance with Census 2011: According to the 2011 Census Interim Census, the population of India was 1210.2 million. In this regard, the number of rural people stands at 833.1 million and those in urban areas at 377.1 million.

Conclusion

According to interim reports released on March 31, 2011, India’s population has grown to 1.21 billion with a growth rate of 17.70%. The adult literacy rate has increased to 74.04% with an increase of 9.21%.
