Awards are quite respectful as they are intended to provide recognition as well as honour in order to support or assist their "exceptional performance" and service towards the nation.

Awards are respectful recognition that is known all over by individuals in some way or the other. This is because, over their lifetime, every individual has gained certain recognition for their excellence of their true effort and performances in their respective fields. Therefore, it can be easily acknowledged that awards are quite necessary for determining the performance level and as well as provide assistance in enhancing their performance. Moreover, awards are such recognitions that they make one’s work more visible and their works are known to more and more civilians. In India, “Bharat Ratna” seems to be the highest civilian award in the country.

Catering to the country of India, it is noted that there are four respective fields in which the government of India provides awards to civilians. These wars are government to Indian civilians based on the exceptional services the individuals provide to their motherland in any field irrespective of their religions, sects, castes, occupations, or age. The four categories include “awards for the civilians”, “gallantry awards”, “literary awards in India” and “National sports awards in India”.

What are the types of awards?

Delving into the Indian subcontinent, there are namely four types of awards associated with civilians, which are as follows.

  • The first-degree award is known as “Bharat Ratna”,
  • The second-degree civilian award is known as “Padma Vibhushan”,
  • The third-degree award of honour is “Padma Bhushan”, and lastly,
  • The fourth-degree awards are “Padma Shri” respectively.

Importance of Awards and Recognition

Awards and recognitions play a vital role in determining the successive growth with respect to the progression of the country. Awards play a necessary part in bringing out the best within the individual in their respective fields, which will not only cater to their lives but will help in providing an enhancement to the entire nation as a whole. In India, civilian awards are given by the government to support the outstanding work and excellence of the respective individuals and as well provide quality support to the individual for carrying out his or her works. Moreover, it is well acknowledged that awards provide recognition categories also to the development of the respective individual and support to do better for mankind. It adds up quality value to the individual.

Padma Bhushan

It is understood that the “Padma Bhushan” refers to one of the civilian awards that are given by the government of India. This award is referred to as the third degree of civilian honour that is given to an individual in the field catering to distinguished as well as exceptional fields of performance and services. This also includes services that are rendered by the government. It is a medal made out of bronze and has the symbol of a “lotus flower”.

Padma Vibhushan

“Padma Vibhushan” is referred to as the highest degree of honour that is given by the government to the respective individual in India. This award was introduced in the year 1954 of 2nd January for outstanding performances in the fields of “public services”, “science”, “arts”. It also includes fields like services associated with the government.

Defining “recipient meaning”

The term “recipient meaning” refers to one who is eligible to receive an award or has received the award. This award needs to be granted by the plan that has entered an award agreement. Moreover, recipient in simple terms means the individual who is receiving the award from nominations.
