Introduction

MicroDot technology is the operation of spraying thousands of microscopic dots upon automobiles or other possessions while intending to give a distinctive recognition. Each of these MicroDot Technologies has a distinctive identity that is reported to the possessor. This technology was made to fight the stealing of cars and has proven to be useful for finding automobiles that were stolen. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has allowed vehicles to have MicroDots Technology that is invisible but can be recognised using a UV light source.

Facts on MicroDot Technology

Some of the facts on the Microdot technology are mentioned below:

  1. Falsifying a microdot is effectively unfeasible as a consequence of the hidden safety guidelines in each microdot.
  2. It is effectively unfeasible to get off the microdots that make it one of the leading automobile safety programmes.
  3. The devices that have been micro-dotted are present on a database. The information logged onto this database can be helpful in finding out the possessor of an asset.

How does Microdot Technology India prevent theft?

The microdot technology in India is known to be a state of the art recognition system. It can work as a safety measure and a security anti-theft system for assets and other things everywhere. In this technology, polyester substrate dots are diffused on vehicles and assets. These dots contain distinct information based on the vehicle’s identity.

Automobile manufacturers around the world have begun utilising the microdot system to imprint a vehicle or an asset with a distinct VIN. These unique codes increase the security of the vehicles.

It is possible to add the microdots on the vehicles after it is bought. But in this case, the personal identification number of the vehicle will be the owners instead of the vehicles. Attaching microdots after purchasing a car will change the identification number on the vehicle.

Once the microdots are sprayed all over the vehicle uniformly, it is impossible to remove them completely. The microscopic dots are less than 1 mm in their diameter. Therefore, it is impossible to remove the microdots without damaging the vehicle at all. But since it is almost impossible to remove the microdots, law enforcement officers can easily trace a vehicle. It can be done by scanning the information and identifying it. The information in the vehicle’s body is present in the microdots that are sprayed on it.

Another important fact about microdots is that it is not limited to cars and vehicles. It can also be used to secure expensive tools, gadgets, and equipment. Along with the vehicles and the things mentioned above, it can also be used to secure laptops, luggage, mobile phones, jewellery, etc.

MicroDot Technology PIB (Press Information Bureau)

On 29th July 2019, according to the draft notification issued that allows vehicles to be attached with microdots technology India, the following things were mentioned. Microdot Technology PIB mentions that the ministry of highway and road transport has amended the rules for central motor vehicles. This draft mentions that the vehicles and their assemblies, components, sub-assemblies, and parts are to be attached with invisible and permanent microdots technology in India.

Microdot Technology PIB mentions that these microdots can be identified and read using UV lights or microscopes. Microscopic dots are sprayed all over vehicles or machines using microdot technology. These microscopic dots have distinct identities. Therefore, using this technology will ensure that the stolen vehicles can be found. These microscopic dots can not be removed from the asset without damaging the asset since the adhesive and microdots are permanent.

Conclusion

Microdot Technology is the process of spraying thousands of microscopic dots on vehicles, assets, or other expensive possessions in order to give each of them a unique identity. All the micro dotted assets have an identity that is unique to each individual. In this article, we read in detail some facts on microdot technology. We understood how microdot technology acts as an anti-theft system and makes it easier to find stolen assets. The article ended with the information provided by the draft submitted by the Press Information Bureau on microdot technology.
