Awards
Recipients get awards as a mark of appreciation for their accomplishments in a particular field. It is a decoration when the token is a medal, ribbon, or another object that may be worn. Individuals like students and athletes are frequent recipients, as are organisations, sports teams, and nations as a whole, which are represented by the recipients. Decorations, such as medals, badges, and rosettes, can be used as reward items (awards). In addition, it can be a token item, such as a certificate or a diploma. Prizes and scholarships, in addition to honorary degrees, can be considered awards.
Other prominent references are given to educators, and while they do not elevate the winner’s status, it is considered an honour to have their names mentioned. Sovereign nations, dynasties, other public institutions, or private groups or people can bestow prizes as state honours. Other examples include church groups, such as rewards for excellence in the church.
As an example, the Nobel Prize rewards social accomplishments, whereas the Pulitzer Prize honours literary excellence. Awards can be given to individuals or organisations merely for their achievements, with no strings attached.
