The Indian Navy is under the command of the President of India. The Navy is under the direction of the Navy’s General Admiral. From the Persian Gulf and Horn of Africa to the Straits of Malacca, the Blue-Water Navy conducts anti-piracy operations and collaborates with other warships in the region. At the same time, we have frequent deployments in the South China Sea, East China Sea, and Western Mediterranean for two to three months at a time.

At home and abroad, India’s naval forces are tasked with protecting its maritime borders and collaborating with other Union Armies in the defence of the country’s territorial integrity and marine rights.

Importance Of Indian Navy Day

Throughout the year, December 4th is designated as Indian Navy Day in honour of the accomplishments and contributions of the Indian Navy. On December 4, 1971, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani ships, including the PNS Khyber, during Operation Trident, killing hundreds of Pakistani sailors. The end of the Indo-Pak War in 1971 is also commemorated on this day.

Indian Navy Day commemorates Operation Trident, an Indian missile boat strike on Karachi’s harbour during the India-Pakistan War, and pays tribute to all of those who lost their lives (December 4, 1971). To remain undetected, the Indian sailors conducted their communications in Russian. This raid killed no Indian sailors. “Swarnim Vijay Varsh” is the theme for Navy Day in 2021.

A number of activities take place during the penultimate day of Navy Week, which culminates on Navy Day. Schoolchildren and other members of the public are welcome to tour Indian Navy ships and planes on this day.

Achievements Of The Indian Navy

  • Operation Sankalp: As tensions between the United States and Iran increase in the Gulf region, IN will carry out maritime security activities (codename Op SANKALP) in the Gulf region from June 2019, and the safety of Indian-registered merchant ships (IFMV) across the Strait of Hormuz. We have secured a good passage.
  • Operation Samudra setu: IN ships Jalashwa, Shardul, Airavat and Magar were deployed from May – July 2020 for Operation Samudra Setu to undertake repatriation of stranded Indian Nationals in the wake of COVID-19, from Iran, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
  • Rescue of the fishermen: On July 26, 2020, four fishermen were rescued by an IN Chetak helicopter operating at Parundu Naval Air Base from a sunken ship near Manaltive Island in Tamil Nadu (13 nautical miles southeast of Tuticorin).
  • The Assistance of MV new diamond: On September 3, 2020, the IN vessel Sahyadri was detoured off the east coast of Sri Lanka to assist the Panama-registered crude oil tanker, New Diamond.
  • Commissioning of INS Kavaratti: The fourth and last ship of Project 28, INS Kavaratti, was commissioned on  October 22, 2020, in Visakhapatnam.
  • Commissioning of IN LCU L57 (yard 2098): IN LCU L57 was commissioned in Port Blair on May 15th. This is the seventh of eight LCU MK IV vessels built by M / s GRSE in Kolkata.

The Role Of The Indian Navy

In the 21st century, the Indian Navy has played an important role in maintaining peace in India in front of the sea, despite the turmoil in the neighbourhood. It is used not only for humanitarian assistance in the event of natural disasters and crises around the world but also for keeping India’s maritime trade routes clear and open.

The Navy plays an important role in providing humanitarian assistance in the event of natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes and tsunamis. After the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, the Indian Navy launched extensive disaster relief efforts to assist the affected Indian countries, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

During the 2006 Israel-Lebanese conflict, the Indian Navy launched Operation Scoon, with 436 Srilankans, 69 Nepalese, and 7 from Lebanon, which was devastated by the war from 20 to 29 July 2006. 2,280 people, including Lebanese, were evacuated.

In 2008, Indian naval vessels were the first to launch international relief efforts for the victims of Myanmar’s Cyclone Nargis. In 2008, the Navy deployed INS Tabar and INS Mysore in the Gulf of Aden to fight Somali pirates. Tabar stopped numerous attempts at piracy and safely escorted hundreds of ships in pirate-infested waters.

Conclusion

Community services for the Indian Navy are provided by the Navy Aeronautical Technology Institute (NIAT) at Good Hope Old Age Home in Kochi Fort. Here, the Navy Children’s School chair student takes turns providing inmates and Navy doctors (from INHS Sanjivani). Provide a health checkup for prisoners. To celebrate Navy Day, a Navy Ball and Navy Queen tournament, including the Navy Fest, will be held. At the celebration of 2020, viewers will be able to take a 360-degree virtual reality tour of INS Vikramaditya. This tour was published on November 16, 2013.
