The second-largest earning source of revenue for the Rajasthan Government is the Excise Department of the state government. The Excise Department handles and regulates the rules and laws that relate to the possession, manufacture, import, sale, export and transport of intoxicating drugs and liquor, it also collects revenue in the form of taxes from all of these sources. The department’s only motive is not to collect revenue from the taxes but also to stop the illegal activities such as trafficking, trade and production of Liquor.

The Excise Commissioner is the head of the Excise Department and the headquarters is situated in Udaipur the jurisdiction of the Excise department is all over the state. The Excise Department of Rajasthan is the second largest tax revenue source. The Excise Commissioner is helped by the Additional Excise Commissioner (Adm), Additional Excise Commissioner (Excise Preventive Force), Additional Excise Commissioner (Policy), Financial Advisor, Joint Excise Commissioner (EPF), Chemical Examiner, Additional Excise Commissioner (Legal) and many more officers. The state of Rajasthan has been divided into 7 zones in order to improve the functionaries on the field level. The seven zones are:

Rajasthan State Beverages Corporation Limited (RSBCL)
RSBCL was formed by the Excise department of Rajasthan under the policy of Excise in the financial year 2005-06. According to the Excise policy, Rajasthan State Beverages Corporation Limited has the exclusive right to price and source beer and Indian Made Foreign Liquor in Rajasthan. The main motive behind the formation of Rajasthan State Beverages Corporation Limited was to provide the best possible quality and quantity of all types of liquor at a uniform rate all over the state to the customers. One more target was also to remove the middlemen which will improve the issue of revenue leakage problem in the system.
