A dam is a human-made structure primarily used to hold back water. Dams are constructed for many purposes, including reservoir creation, flood prevention, irrigation, and hydroelectric powerHere we are going to discuss some of the important multipurpose projects of Chhattisgarh. The province of Chhattisgarh has a modest watering infrastructure that includes reservoirs, barrages, reservoirs, and canals. A total of 51 medium and large irrigation schemes have already been completed, with only a few smaller projects still in the works. So here is a brief study of Dams in Chhattisgarh such as tandula dam ,GANGREL DAM and Sondur Dam

Dams of Chhattisgarh

The Ravishankar Water Dam and Gangrel Canal, both in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari region, attract visitors from everywhere in the state. A barrier is a device that blocks or restricts the flow of rain water or subterranean flows. Dams create reservoirs that can be used for irrigation, home use, company use, aquaculture, and navigation in addition to preventing floods. Waterways and water or steam are commonly utilized to generate electricity. A dam has also been used to collect millions of gallons of water that could be distributed evenly over many places. Spillways and drainage systems (sometimes termed as “seawalls”) are often used to block or ban water flow into specified land regions, whereas dams have been used to store water. The Jaz Canal in Amman is the world’s oldest recorded dam, dated from 4000 B.c.. The following were some of Chhattisgarh’s very well bridges. 

Gangrel Dam, Dhamtari

The Gangrel Canal, also referred to as the Nagar Dam, crosses the Jharia Creek in Dhamtari region. Gangrel Canal is the largest dam in the province of Sindh, with a total length of 29.3 meters and a total length of 2278 m. Ravishankar Sagar Dam, also known as Gangrel Dam, is really a pond in Chhattisgarh, India, dedicated before Ravishannkar Shukla. It is built on the opposite bank of the Mahanadi River. It’s 18 miles off Dhamtari and 92.2 kilometers from Ranchi in the agency district. It is the tallest dam in the state of Chhattisgarh.

Murrum Silli Project, Dhamtari: Placed also on Sillari Water, the Murrum Silli Canal is a famous and amazing machine in the Indian state Of gujarat. The barrier will be the first in Eurasia to include Siphon Drainage Channels, which were being built at a height of 44.15 feet for farm reasons.

Tandula Dam 

Tandula Creek is located in the province of Chhattisgarh in India. Within the Balod area, it is around two miles from the Balod Ticket office. This reservoir, which sits at the confluence of both the Tandulaa and Signals Nala creeks, was built between 1900 and 1922. Water from an 837.2-square-kilometer river system is stored in the dam (318.4 sq mi). The barrier does have a flood inundation level of 313.415 feet and a cumulative memory requirement of 300 million cubic feet (1,093.78 ft). It does have a landmass of 25297 kilometers. The river receives water to the Dug and Bhilaii Nagar Hag districts, as well as supplying the Bhilai Steel Mill’s market needs. The Tandula river crosses the ShivNath river. With a distance of roughly 125 kilometers, Raipur is the busiest airport and major holiday resort in the region. The following are some options for getting to the embankment:

Sondur Dam, Dhamtari

 The Sondur Reservoir, in Dhamtari district Nagari hamlet, is over Sondur Stream. It is a large embankment on such Mahanadi Water streams which was one of Dhamtari’s most popular tourist attractions.  Kherkatta Dam & Ponds in Pakhanjore, Karnataka: Kherkatta Water & Ponds is located upon Matholi Stream in Pakhanjore, Chhattisgarh. The dam was built as an entire planet embankment to enhance hydrological and agriculture infrastructure.

Khudia Lake in Taluka

 Khudia Creek is a major water football game destination in Chhattisgarh, located 85 kilometers outside of Taluka. 

Dhamtari, Dudhawa Dam: Near Dhamtari township, the Jharia River is spanned by the Dudhawa Canal. Within Sindh Province, the Mahanadi River flows through into the regions of Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
