Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary

Barnawapara Chhattisgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is a small wildlife sanctuary Spread over an area of 245 sq. km. It is located in the Mahasamund district. Located in north Chhattisgarh, it is one of the prominent tourist spots in central India. Having a dense grassland and bamboo-dominated forest area near Mahasamund town, it covers various types of flora and fauna from all over the country. 

This sanctuary is home to various species including four-horned antelopes, porcupines, striped hyenas, muntjac deer, leopards, tigers, and sambars to name a few. It has been notified as an Elephant Reserve since 1975 by the Government of India under Section 88 of The Wildlife Protection Act 1972 making it a protected area for elephants.
