The executive power of the state is vested in the governor after they are appointed by the president of India. They are appointed for five years and in those five years, the appointed candidate will be known as the governor and will hold the office. Like all states, Chhattisgarh also has its governor. The state of Chhattisgarh is a relatively new state which came into existence on November 1, 2000. The state was previously a part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. After the foundation of the state, they formed their government. Dinesh Nandan Sahay was appointed as the first governor of Chhattisgarh and held office from 1 November 2000 to 1 June 2003. To date, a total of eight governors have held office and the current governor of Chhattisgarh is Anusuiya Uikey.

Anusuiya Uikey
Anusuiya Uikey is the current governor of the state of Chhattisgarh and has been in charge since 29 July 2019. Before serving as the governor of Chhattisgarh, she was already a well-known politician and was elected by the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the 1985 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Elections. She was elected from Damua (a census town in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh). Anusuiya Uikey was elected by the assembly as a member of the Indian National Congress. At present (April 2022), she is part of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
Shekhar Dutt
Sekhar Dutt was the fourth governor of Chhattisgarh and served the nation in multiple bureaucratic posts both before and after serving as the governor of Chhattisgarh. Sekhar Dutt held office as the governor from 23 January 2010 to 19 June 2014. He is an IAS officer and has served the country as the National Security Advisor of India under prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh from 27 July 2007 to 2009. He was the 31st Defence Secretary of India and also did military service in the crucial years of 1970-1971 when the Indo-Pakistani War happened. Other than these, Sekhar Dutt was a very versatile man and served the nation in many other ways as well and added many more feathers to his cap.
The First Governor of Chhattisgarh
Dinesh Nandan Sahay was the first governor of Chhattisgarh. He served the duties of the governor from 1 November 2000 to 1 June 2003. D. N. Sahay is also a former governor of Tripura from 2003 to 2009. He was a lecturer of English in H.D. college and also joined the Indian Police Service in 1960. He later joined the Samata party.

D. N. Sahay was the state’s first governor and held office from 2000 to 2003. Anusuiya Uikey is the current governor of the state and has been in office since 29 July 2019. The governor protects the contribution and law in all the administration-related affairs in the state and ensures that the constitution is respected by the governing party in the concerned state.
