An award is an achievement of a person to be worked toward. On the contrary, honours are granted without the recipient knowing about them.

The number one award that has been provided by the Indian government is the Bharat Ratna. In India, Bharat Ratna has been considered one of the highest civilian awards that are offered by the government in recognition of providing service or performance that is exceptional. Among the top ten awards or recognitions of the Indian government includes the awards such as Padma Vibhushan, Padma Shri, Arjuna Award, Ashoka Chakra Award and many more.

Awards and honours are given in 2020

Nobel Prize in Peace has been provided to the awardees who promoted the World Food Programme, in 2020. In addition to this, An Oria poet has received the Sarala Puraskar in 2020. In 2020, Pranab Mukherjee was awarded the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna Award. Mathrubhumi Sahitya Puraskar was awarded to the poet K Sachidanandan in 2020. Nilmani Phookan Jr has gotten the Jnanpith Award in 2020 that is the country’s highest literary award. 

Awards are given in 2019

In 2019, Nanaji Deshmukh has been awarded the highest civilian award in India that is Bharat Ratna. In addition, as per the records, one of the eminent Malayalam poets Akkitham has been awarded the 55th Jnanpith Award in 2019. Shashi Tharoor has been awarded the Sahitya Akademi Awards in 2019 for his book named An era of Darkness in English. From the field of art-music-sitar, Shri Budhaditya Mukherjee has received the Padma Shri award in 2019. Teejan Bai has received the Padma Bhushan Award in 2019.
