An Explanation of Present Education in India

Let us know what is the current scenario of Education in India. This article will guide you and help you understand the purpose of education in India and its positive side.

The tradition of imparting knowledge is one of the main virtues of ancient India. The shishya (students) living with their gurus (teachers), known as ‘gurukula’, was the education type in India. Now, India is facing an era of science and technology. The evolution we find these days varies from the pattern that we would find 50 years back.

The present education system deals with technical education for students and imparts trade, craft and profession to reduce the unemployment status of youngsters.

Purpose of present education in India

The purpose of the present Education System in India is to promote national development, a sense of common citizenship and culture, and to enhance national integration according to the National Education Policy (1968). But some modification is given to this policy and has laid stress on the need for the reconstruction of the educational system to improve its quality at every stage, giving greater importance to science and technology, cultivating moral values and promoting the relationship between the education and life of citizens.

Education is a method to enlighten an individual to make them aware of what is right and what is wrong. Education is the basic fundamental right of each individual which needs to be achieved. Education is all about-

  • Enhancing one’s skills to cope with the world
  • Meeting adequate progress in whatever you do
  • Producing a competitive workforce
  • Improving ourselves in order to learn more.
  • Covering the basic standards of education as an individual.

Competition to present education in India

In the present day, competition has become a part of daily life. Education plays an important role in this competition. The higher the qualification, the higher the chances of getting a permanent and standard job. Today’s students face many challenges related to this as the competition has grown stiffer and stronger than before. Those entering a new university or job market need to face the highly competitive well-educated rivals from India.

A child should be given the education to win over the competitions waiting for them in the coming future. Qualification in higher education supports the students in facing any challenges in the job market.

The positive side of the Indian Education System

The government has made many new initiatives in order to cope with the new advancements, and this is exhibiting a great increment in the percentage of education. There are many positive results obtained from the present education system of India, and they are-

  3. Presently ICSE and CBSE are contributing more to education processes by imparting education till higher secondary along with the state boards.
  4. The open university facilities also provide education from home, and some institutions provide e-tutorials.
  5. The one important positive aspect of the Indian education system is the growth of technical institutions. There are more institutions than before that are providing technical education.
  6. There are so many engineering colleges in our country, so there is no dearth of engineering graduates in India.
  7. The new education system is focused on theoretical knowledge; students are able to learn more theoretical concepts, which help them in developing higher intellect.

Conclusion

Recent studies have shown that the Indian Education System is now far better and more progressing than the past Indian Education system. There are many goals to be achieved, but the correct implementation is the one which is lacking. Higher education is given more importance in the present scenario.

The new ideas on higher education show that the government is willing to take a step for the betterment of education. The policies related to the education system need to be improved to get good results. We need to cope with advancements in science and technology and the technical education system in India. Let us hope that the glory of India’s education system is around the corner and India will become the centre of knowledge production, just like in ancient times
