A General Overview of Agriculture in Uttar Pradesh

Agriculture is the most important aspect of Uttar Pradesh’s Economy. Uttar Pradesh is known as one of the top producers of goods and services all over the Country. Uttar Pradesh agriculture is always involved in the development of the country. Here 59% of the population get employment from Agriculture only which shows how important a role it plays to produce those essential foods which are not possible easily to get from any other country or state. A high amount of agricultural lands is present here and many are being sold for the cultivation purpose itself.

Growth Of Agriculture

If you look at the production of foods then you may find out that Uttar Pradesh agriculture doesn’t satisfy the aggregate demand of the country. The average income per month was recorded as 5th lowest in the country State-wise during 2012-2013. Later on, during 2015-16 it goes worse and farmers’ incomes were much lower.  At this time Uttar Pradesh agriculture data said the average income per household is Rs. 8931 which is a completely lower side compared to all of India’s average income. According to the survey, the cultivation income was on the higher side but the income on household income was very low.

After Punjab and Haryana, Uttar Pradesh agriculture is getting 74.660 km canals. 69 Reservoirs were recorded and 32000 cultivation lands are using tube wells approved by the government. Since the irrigation’s main sources are wells they are completely fine in this sector.

Uttar Pradesh Agriculture is known to be having a lack of electrical power and since the state is large it needs more water and that water goes for cultivation as well electricity is also conducted by the water so there is always a lack of power and this leads to an increase in the workload of manpower. But one thing is clear: Uttar Pradesh Land has the capability to produce any type of crops and it is also the leader of cultivation lands.
