Sangeet Natak Akademi is the national academy of music, dance and drama in India. It was founded on 31st October 1952 by the government of India. The akademi is supported by the Ministry of Culture. Its headquarters are located in New Delhi.
Objectives of Sangeet Natak Akademi

Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship
Fellowship means that the Akademi confers on an individual the status of a National Artist and provides him/her financial support for one year to enable him/her to pursue his/her art.
Fellowship is awarded in recognition of an artist’s outstanding contribution to the field of performing arts.
The Fellowship is not given for any specific project or work, but it is left to the discretion of the Fellow as to how he/she wishes to use the time and resources at his/her disposal.
Applications are invited from artists who have made a significant contribution to their respective fields and who are currently active in their practice.
The selection process is based on a peer review system and applications are welcome from all parts of India.
The last date for receipt of applications is 31st October 2019.
Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards
The sangeet natak akademi awards are the highest accolades given in the field of performing arts in India. They were established by the government of India in 1952 and are given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the fields of music, dance, drama, and puppetry.
The Akademi awards are not only a recognition of an artist’s excellence, but also a way of sustaining employee engagement within the organisation.
