The World Wide Web is commonly abbreviated as WWW or W3 or the Web. The World Wide Web is a system of interconnected web pages that are surfed through the Internet, and we can access information through them.
The World Wide Web is not the same as the Internet. It is a collection of web pages that are built on top of the Internet.
The World Wide Web gives a wide variety of information related to any topic. These pieces of information are linked to each other by hyperlinks. Hypertext enables the user to access all the pieces of information related to any topic by sensing that topic, keyword, or phrase.

Uniform Resource Locator: It is abbreviated as URL. It is a unique universal identifier that is given by the client in order to access the web page.
HyperText Markup Language: It is abbreviated as HTML. It is the most common format for publishing web pages.
History of the World Wide Web
The first Web Server, Web Browser, and Web Page was made by Tim Berners-Lee at the CERN Physics research lab in 1990. He announced his creation in the year 1991 on the alt. hypertext newsgroup. They created a protocol, HyperText Markup Language, which builds the line of communication between the server and the client.
The World Wide Web gained popularity with the introduction of a new web browser called Mosaic. Mosaic was created by Marc Andreessen and his colleagues in the United States. It was released in September 1993. In the mid of the 1990s, the World Wide Web had millions of active users.
The Microsoft Corporation started supporting Internet applications for personal computers. So, it developed its own web browser, namely the Internet Explorer, abbreviated as IE. It was released in 1995.
Apple’s Safari was launched in 2003. It became a default browser on the Macintosh personal computers and then the iPhones and the iPads.
Then came the most dominating web browser, Mozilla Firefox. It was launched in 2004. It was designed to resolve the speeding and privacy issues that were not available in Internet Explorer.
In the year 2008, Google introduced the Chrome web browser, the most commonly used web browser with isolated tabs. Isolated tabs mean that even if one of the tabs is crashed, still the browser will continue working. By the end of 2013, Chrome had become the most dominant web browser.
