Output can be output in text format, audio format, visual format, or any combination of those three formats. It can also include such things as touch-screen input and infrared output. For example, typing text into a word processor program will generate text output on your computer screen (visual format) while speaking into an infrared microphone connected to your computer will produce spoken words in an audio file (audio format).
