SBI Clerk Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wish to apply for the post of Junior Associate in the clerical cadre need to qualify for the exam. Before appearing for the exam, aspirants need to ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria specified by the authorities. The eligibility criteria for the SBI Junior Associate is divided into age limit and academic qualifications.

The details for each of the factors included in the eligibility criteria are mentioned below.

A. Age limit: (As of 01.04.2021): 

a. Candidates should be between 20 to 28 years of age as on 01.04.2021

b. Candidates should have been born not earlier than 02.04.1993 and no later than 01.04.2001 (both days inclusive)

Note: 

i) Candidates who are eligible for age relaxation need to submit copies of the required documents in support of their claim, at the time of joining.

ii) After the completion of online registration, candidates will not be allowed to make any changes.

iii) Cumulative age relaxation will not be entertained under any of the mentioned conditions separately or in combination with each other. 

B. Academic qualifications: (As of 16.08.2021) 

a. Candidates must have cleared their graduation in any discipline from any recognised university

b. Applicants who have IDD or Integrated Dual Degree must ensure that their passing date is on or before 16.08.2021

c. Candidates who are in their last semester or year can provisionally apply as well. However, they will have to show the proof of qualifying for the degree on or before 16.08.2021

Note: 

  1. Candidates must note that the marksheet/certificate or provisional certificate will display the date of passing the eligibility exam. 
  2. The certificate issued by the authorities of the institution will include the date on which the results were announced on the website and that will be considered as the date of passing, in case any particular exam result is posted on the official website of the university.
  3. Candidates such as Matriculate ex-servicemen who acquired the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after completing their service for a minimum of 15 years in the Armed Forces of the Union can apply for the post of Junior Associate in Clerical Cadre. However, the certificate needs to be dated on or before 16.08.2021

C. Reservation for PwD candidates

Section 34 of the “Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016” offers a 4% horizontal reservation to people who have benchmark disabilities. Candidates with the specified disabilities, as defined in the Schedule to the RPWD Act 2016, are eligible to apply for the Junior Associate of Clerical Cadre position: 

1. Locomotor disabilities (LD) :

Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy, and Acid Attack Victims are examples of people who are unable to do specific actions linked with the movement of self because of neurological or musculoskeletal system disease or both. Candidates who are orthopedically challenged come under this category with the given benchmark:

a. OA – One arm affected (Right or Left) 

b. OL – One leg affected (Right or Left)  

c. OAL – One arm & One Leg affected 

d. BL – Both legs were affected but not the arms

Candidates with OA and OAL must have normal bilateral hand functions.

i) Leprosy cured person refers to the person who has been cured of the condition but still suffers from-

  • Sensory loss in the arms and hands, as well as loss of sensation and nerve palsy in the eyes and eyelids, but no apparent deformity
  • They have an obvious malformation and nerve palsy, but their feet and hands are flexible enough to participate in regular economic activity
  • Extreme physical disability, as well as older age, hinder him/ her from functioning, and the term “leprosy cured” shall be understood accordingly

ii) Cerebral Palsy- Impairment to one or more distinct parts of the brain causes a majority of non-neurological conditions affecting physical functions and muscle control, which usually occur before, during, or shortly after birth.

iii) Any genetic condition that limits the physical growth to 147 cm or less. 

iv) Muscular dystrophy refers to a set of hereditary genetic neuromuscular disorders that damage the muscles that propel the body. Patients with various forms of the disease have incorrect and missing information in their genetics, which prevents them from producing the proteins that healthy muscles demand. Increasing skeletal muscular loss, muscle protein defects, and muscle cell and tissue death are all symptoms.

v) A person who has been scarred as a result of extreme violence including the throwing of acid or some other acidic material is referred to as an acid attack victim.

2. Visual Impairment (VI):

Candidates who suffer from the following conditions even after the treatment can apply:

a. Blindness- 

i) Total lack of vision, or

ii) Restricted field of vision subtending an angle of less than 10 degree,

iii) Visual acuity that is less than 3/60 or 10/200 Snellen in the perfect eye with the treatment.

b. Low vision-

i) Visual acuity of not more than 6/18 or less than 20/60 to 3/60 or up to 10/200 Snellen in the proper eye.

ii) Restricted field of vision that subtends to an angle if less than 40 degrees up to 10 degrees.

3. Hearing impaired- 

i) Candidates who are deaf and have 70 DB of hearing loss in speech frequencies in both the ears.

ii) Candidates who are hard of hearing which refers to someone who has 60 to 70 DB hearing loss in speech frequencies in both the ears.

4. ‘d’ and ‘e’- Candidates who suffer from any of the following conditions can apply- 

i) Mental Illness (MI) is viewed as a major disorder of reasoning, emotions, perception, alignment, or memory that affects assessment, behavioural patterns, ability to acknowledge reality, or ability to meet the usual demands of everyday life. However, it does not involve cognitive impairment, which is identified as a condition of a person’s mind being convicted or imperfectly evolved, with low functioning intelligence.

ii) Specific Learning Disability (SLD) refers to a diverse collection of conditions that are characterised by problems grasping, reading,  speaking, writing, proofreading, or completing maths equations due to medical conditions in processing language, whether spoken or written. Sensory difficulties, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, and developmental aphasia are all forms of Specific Learning Disability.

iii) Multiple deformities mean conditions amongst ASD, SLD, LD, HI, VI, and MI. 

Note: Candidates who fulfill the criteria of Benchmark disability who have a difficulty of not less than 40% in any category will be eligible for the reservation. It includes PwD candidates whose disability has been characterised in measured terms, as per the certifying authority. 

Candidates who avail of the reservation will have to display the required documents such as the recent disability certificate in the specified format, which should be issued by the Medical authorities or any other certifying authority in the nearby area of the applicant’s residence as mentioned in the proof of residence submitted in the application. The required documents need to be dated on or before the last date of the registration process.
