Shatabdi express is a day train that goes between medium to short distances and returns on that day itself. Instead of berths, they just have chairs (Chair Car). The Swarna Shatabdi Express is a more opulent version of the Shatabdi Express. There are now 25 train pairings in this chain.

3. Duronto express

These deluxe, superfast, long-distance trains link various Indian state capitals and metropolises. While some Duronto trains are fully air-conditioned, others operate with non-air-conditioned sleeping cars. These trains travel at a maximum speed of 130 km/h and make fewer pauses. As of now, India’s rails are home to 26 pairs of Duronto trains.

4. Jan Shatabdi Express

Jan Shatabdi Express is a less expensive variant of the Shatabdi Express. The ultra-fast day trains include non-air-conditioned and air-conditioned passenger classes (2nd Seating and AC Chair Car). They have a peak speed of 140 km/h.

5. Humsafar Express

Humsafar Express trains are 3-tiered, long-distance trains that are entirely air-conditioned. They are outfitted with amenities such as LED panels that display train speed and station information, CCTV cameras, a PA system, coffee/tea vending machines, charging connections, smoke detectors, refrigeration and heating facilities, and bio-toilets.

6. Garib Rath

Garib Rath Premium trains are low-cost, fully air-conditioned trains that offer subsidised high-speed connections. The maximum speed of these no-frills, 3-tiered long-distance trains is 140 km/hr.

7. Kavi Guru Express 

The Kavi Guru Express is a set of 4 pairs of trains named after Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel laureate, also known as Kavi Guru in Bengali. One of these four pairings is a high-speed express train.

8. Vande Bharat Express

Vande Bharat Express is a new intercity day train with a semi-high speed that is entirely air-conditioned. It has a top speed of 200 km/h, one of India’s fastest trains. This train, also recognised as Train 18, has a variety of amenities, including Wi-Fi, hydraulic-pressure doors, CCTV cameras,  a fire/smoke recognition and extinguishing arrangement, and refreshment tables.

9. Sampark Kranti Express 

Sampark Kranti Expresses are high-speed premium trains that travel from New Delhi, the national capital, to each state’s capitals or major cities. They are a less expensive alternative to the Rajdhani Express trains, providing high-speed travel in air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned carriages. These trains have a top speed of 110 km/h.

10. Tejas Express

Air-conditioned, moderate-high-speed chair car trains that feature a variety of onboard amenities such as CCTV cameras, LED TV along with a charging socket, Wi-Fi, tea/coffee vending machines, snack tables, celebrity chef menu, fire/smoke recognition and extinguishing arrangement, bio-vacuum toilets, and sensor water tap, to name a little These trains have a high speed of 200 km/h. Still, for technical reasons, they are limited to 130 km/h.

11. The Gatimaan Express

The Gatimaan Express, which connects Jhansi and New Delhi, is the country’s 1st moderate-high-speed railway. It is an air-conditioned chair car train with modern amenities such as fire alarms, a passenger information system based on GPS, Wi-Fi, bio-toilets, and sliding doors. There are also train hostesses on board to serve the passengers. This train has a peak speed of 160 miles per hour.
