The Vidhwa pension scheme is an initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Government in order to help those women who have lost their husbands. In many houses, the male member of the family (the husband or the father) is still considered to be the sole breadwinner of the house. This scheme is designed to help the women who lose this support due to unfortunate situations and circumstances. This scheme will be applicable to widows who belong to the backward category. The government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to help these unfortunate women and their children (if present) with a monthly allowance of Rs 300-500 in order for them to sustain themselves in a dignified manner.

Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji has implemented this scheme in order to make the backward widowed women of Uttar Pradesh self-sufficient and independent. This scheme allows widows about Rs 500 every month. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh understands the plight of widowed backward women who are often left with little or no support to sustain themselves in this world. Furthermore, due to many backward superstition’s widows are generally seen as an inauspicious omen and are not welcomed anywhere. Many times they are even thrown out of their own houses. There are other reasons attributed to it as well. A widow is often seen as a woman who has no support in her life and can be easily ill-treated. The primary thought process behind this scheme is to make widows self- sufficient so that their level of dependency decreases.
Benefits Of Vidhwa Pension Scheme
A number of benefits are attributed to this scheme of Vidhwa Pension. Any widow whose husband had died under odd or unnatural circumstances or even if he died a natural death is eligible foe this pension scheme. The widow needs to get herself registered under this scheme through the official website that is sspy-up.gov.in and can check in anytime to check whether her name has been added in the beneficiary list or not. After her name has been added in the beneficiary list an amount of Rs 300-500 will be added to their bank account every month.
