Government Schemes UPSC

Introduction

Shram Suvidha is a web portal that serves as a central hub for all labour compliance issues.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Government of India, and state governments are responsible for more than 40 labour laws in India. Compliance with these laws is time-consuming and tedious. As a result, many employers fail to comply. The scale of noncompliance exceeds the regulatory capacity of enforcement agencies. Employees do not always receive what they are entitled to under these laws, amidst the confusion.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has created the eSHRAM portal to create a National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW) in order to maximise their employability and extend social security benefits to them.

It’s the country’s first national database of unorganised workers, including migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers, and so on.

E-Shram Card 2022

For better execution of various social security schemes for unorganised sector workers, the government launched the e-Shram portal. The Ministry of Labour and Employment established an e-Shram portal to help workers in the unorganised sector who are not members of the EPFO or ESIC.

The eSHRAM Portal’s goals

(i)To improve the efficiency with which social security services for unorganised workers are implemented.

(ii) Integration of Social Security Schemes for UWs administered by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, as well as those run by other ministries.

(iii)APIs are used to share information about registered unorganised workers with various stakeholders, such as the Central and State governments’ Ministries, Departments, Boards, Agencies, and Organisations, in order to deliver various social security and welfare schemes.
