Why is imbibition important?

Ans :  The process of imbibition ensures the first step in the germination of seeds. The seeds imbibe water and swell whenever they are soaked in the same. The seed coat usually imbibes the water, and so do the other tissues of the endosperm and embryo. That is how the process of imbibition initiates germination in seeds. That further leads to the making of a healthy plant in the future.
