The article is a very important element that stands before the noun in the sentences. Articles are- ‘a’, ‘an’, and ‘the’.

The article is the element that stands before the noun. It helps the people as well as the students to identify the counts and also the particular things in the sentences. The articles are used for a replacement of an adjective. There are two articles- one is ‘a’ or ‘an’, another one is ‘the’. ‘A’ or ‘an’ is used as an indefinite article, and ‘the’ is used as a definite article. It is used for giving an identity to the things and nouns to the reader of the sentences. ‘A’ or ‘an’ is used when the maker of the sentences does not know the particular identity of the noun.       

What are articles?

The article is the element that helps the people and the readers to identify the particular identity of the nouns. The articles come or stand before the nouns. The articles give identity to the nouns. It helps the nouns to be recognized as specific ones or unspecific ones. The articles are always modified or improved. The articles are mainly adjectives that improve the sense of the sentences. The articles are the elements that give specific meaning to the nouns as well as the sentences. An article is used to point out things in a particular manner. Articles are used to make a sentence in a better way. It also helps the students to identify the appropriate meaning of the nouns.       

Types of articles  

The articles are of two types. One is ‘a’ or ‘an’, and another one is the. ‘A’ or ‘an’ is used for unspecified nouns, and this is called an indefinite article. It is used for specific nouns that have a significant meaning, so this is called a definite article. It is a definite article, but it is used as the singular and the plural forms. This gives a particular meaning to the nouns. ‘A’ or ‘an’ is an indefinite article that is used to understand the non-particular meaning of the nouns. The definite article is also used for uncountable nouns. The indefinite article is used to understand the general idea of the nouns, not for the specific meaning. A stand before a vowel, whereas ‘an’ stands before a consonant.          

Examples of Articles

Here are some examples of using a, an, the-

  1. There is a dog in the street.

  2. It was my pleasure to meet the person. 

  3. A cup of coffee is a stress buster after a hectic day in the office.

  4. Rumia, please give me the answer to that question.

  5. Please give me a red earring. 

  6. When I was not in my home, the shopkeeper came into my home to take his money.

  7. My father is an honest man.

  8. She is a resident of Canada.

  9. Roma gives a small gift to Soma for her birthday. 

  10. Why don’t you go to the marriage party of your friend?

These are some examples of using articles. These examples show the specific and unspecific meaning of the nouns. The students must use the articles to give a particular meaning to the sentences.   

Importance of Articles

The articles are used for giving particular meaning to the nouns. The article stands before the noun. This article is used to modify the noun and make the sentences better. The articles are very important for the student to make the difference between the particular and non-particular meaning of the nouns. The students must learn the articles to make good and meaningful sentences. The children, as well as the students, can learn the articles from the English syllabus of the study. The articles help to clarify the specific meaning of the nouns in the sentence. When a native or indirect reader does not know the meaning of the nouns, then they will see the particular articles and then decide the exact meaning of the noun. Therefore, this means that the articles are like adjectives that give a modified version to the sentence.
